Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) drew aside the curtain (of his apartment) and (he saw) people in rows (saying prayer) behind Aba Bakr. And he said: Nothing remains of the glad tidings of apostlehood, except good visions which a Muslim sees or someone is made to see for him. And see that I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an in the state of bowing and prostration. So far as Ruk'u is concerned, extol in it the Great and Glorious Lord, and while prostrating yourselves be earnest in supplication, for it is fitting that your supplications should be answered.

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سُحَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَشَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السِّتَارَةَ وَالنَّاسُ صُفُوفٌ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَقَالَ: «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ مُبَشِّرَاتِ النُّبُوَّةِ إِلَّا الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ، يَرَاهَا الْمُسْلِمُ، أَوْ تُرَى لَهُ، أَلَا وَإِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا، فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا فِيهِ الرَّبَّ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ، فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ»

سعید بن منصور ، ابو بکر بن ابی شیبہ اور زہیر بن حرب نے کہا : ہمیں سفیان بن عیینہ نے حدیث بیان کی کہ مجھے سلیمان بن سحیم نے خبر دی ، انہوں نے ابراہیم بن عبد اللہ بن معبد سے ، انہوں نے اپنے والد سے اور انہوں نے کہا : رسول اللہﷺ نے ( دروازے کا ) پردہ اٹھایا ( اس وقت ) لوگ ابو بکر ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ کے پیچھے صف بستہ تھے ۔ آپ نے فرمایا : ’’لوگو! نبوت کی بشارتوں میں سے اب صرف سچے خواب باقی رہ گئے ہیں جو مسلمان خود دیکھے گا یا اس کے لیے کسی دوسرے کو ) دکھایا جائے گا ۔ خبردار رہو! بلاشبہ مجھے رکوع اور سجدے کی حالت میں قرآن پڑھنے سے منع کیا گیا ہے ، جہاں تک رکوع کا تعلق ہے اس میں اپنے رب عزوجل کی عظمت وکبریائی بیان کرو اور جہاں تک سجدے کا تعلق ہے اس میں خوب دعا کرو ، ( یہ دع اس ) لائق ہے کہ تمہارے حق میں قبول کر لی جائے ۔ ‘ ‘ امام مسلم کے اساتذہ میں سے ایک استاد ابو بکر بن ابی شیبہ نے حدیث یبان کرتے ہوئے ( ’’مجھے سلیمان نے خبر دی ‘ ‘ کے بجائے ) سلیمان سے روایت ہے ، کہا ۔ ‘ ‘

Abdullah b. 'Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) drew aside the curtain and his head was bandaged on account of illness in which he died. He said: O Allah, have I not delivered (Thy Message)? (He repeated it) three times. Nothing has been left out of the glad tidings of apostlebood, but good vision. which a pious servant (of Allah) sees or someone else is made to see for him. He then narrated like the hadith transmitted by Sufyan.

This hadith has been narrated by some other narrators, Ibn 'Abbas and others, and they all reported that 'Ali said: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) forbade me to recite the Qur'an while I am in a state of bowing and prostration, and in their narration (there is a mention of) forbiddance from that (recital) in the state of prostration as it has been transmitted by Zuhri, Zaid b. Aslam, al-Wahid b. Kathir, and Dawud b. Qais.
