Ali reported: My loved one (the Holy Prophet) forbade me that I should recite (the Qur'an) in a state of bowing and prostration.

حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: «نَهَانِي حِبِّي صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا

داؤد بن قیس نے کہا : مجھے ابراہیم بن عبد اللہ بن حنین نے اپنے والد ، انہوں نے حضرت ابن عباس ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے اور انہوں نے حضرت علی ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا کہ میرے حبیبﷺ نے مجھے اس بات سے منع فرمایا تھا کہ میں رکوع یا سجدے میں قرآن پڑھوں ۔

This hadith has been narrated by some other narrators, Ibn 'Abbas and others, and they all reported that 'Ali said: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) forbade me to recite the Qur'an while I am in a state of bowing and prostration, and in their narration (there is a mention of) forbiddance from that (recital) in the state of prostration as it has been transmitted by Zuhri, Zaid b. Aslam, al-Wahid b. Kathir, and Dawud b. Qais.

Ibn 'Abbas reported: I was forbidden to recite (the Qur'an) while I was bowing, and there is no mention of 'Ali in the chain of transmitters.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication (in this state).

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to say while prostrating himself: O Lord, forgive me all my sins, small and great, first and last, open and secret.

A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him') often said while bowing and prostrating himself: Glory be to Thee, O Allah, our Lord, and praise be to Thee, O Allah, forgive me, thus complying with the (command in) the Qur'an.
