Translation

Arabic, english and urdu

Abdullah bin 'Umar narrated: A man came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! How many times should the servant be pardoned?' The Prophet was silent. Then he said: 'O Messenger of Allah! How many times should the servant be pardoned?' He said: ' Seventy times each day.'

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبَّاسٍ الْحَجْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَمْ أَعْفُو عَنِ الْخَادِمِ ؟ فَصَمَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَمْ أَعْفُو عَنِ الْخَادِمِ ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ نَحْوًا مِنْ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَبَّاسُ هُوَ ابْنُ جُلَيْدٍ الْحَجْرِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هَانِئٍ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس ایک آدمی نے آ کر پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! میں اپنے خادم کی غلطیوں کو کتنی بار معاف کروں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس شخص کے اس سوال پر خاموش رہے، اس نے پھر پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! میں اپنے خادم کی غلطیوں کو کتنی بار معاف کروں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہر دن ۷۰ ( ستر ) بار معاف کرو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ۲- اسے عبداللہ بن وہب نے بھی ابوہانی خولانی سے اسی طرح روایت کیا ہے۔

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri narrated that the Messenger of Allah said : When one of you beats his servant then he (should) remember Allah and, withhold your hands.
