Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: Abu Zumayl said: I asked Ibn Abbas, saying: What is that I find in my breast? He asked: What is it? I replied: I swear by Allah, I cannot speak about it. He asked me: Is it something doubtful? and he laughed. He then said: No one could escape that, until Allah, the exalted, revealed: If thou went in doubt as to what we have revealed unto thee, and ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee. He said: If you find something in your heart, say: He is the first and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent, and He has full knowledge of all things.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا شَيْءٌ أَجِدُهُ فِي صَدْرِي ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ ؟ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ لِي:‏‏‏‏ أَشَيْءٌ مِنْ شَكٍّ ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَضَحِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا نَجَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَحَدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ فِي شَكٍّ مِمَّا أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ فَاسْأَلِ الَّذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ سورة يونس آية 94،‏‏‏‏ قال:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ لي:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ فِي نَفْسِكَ شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْآخِرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالظَّاهِرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْبَاطِنُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ .

ابوزمیل کہتے ہیں میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا: میرے دل میں کیسی کھٹک ہو رہی ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: کیا ہوا؟ میں نے کہا: قسم اللہ کی! میں اس کے متعلق کچھ نہ کہوں گا، تو انہوں نے مجھ سے کہا: کیا کوئی شک کی چیز ہے، یہ کہہ کر ہنسے اور بولے: اس سے تو کوئی نہیں بچا ہے، یہاں تک کہ اللہ عزوجل نے یہ آیت نازل فرمائی «فإن كنت في شك مما أنزلنا إليك فاسأل الذين يقرءون الكتاب» اگر تجھے اس کلام میں شک ہے جو ہم نے تجھ پر اتارا ہے تو ان لوگوں سے پوچھ لے جو تم سے پہلے اتاری ہوئی کتاب ( توراۃ و انجیل ) پڑھتے ہیں ( یونس: ۹۴ ) ، پھر انہوں نے مجھ سے کہا: جب تم اپنے دل میں اس قسم کا وسوسہ پاؤ تو «هو الأول والآخر والظاهر والباطن وهو بكل شىء عليم» وہی اول ہے اور وہی آخر وہی ظاہر ہے اور وہی باطن اور وہ ہر چیز کو بخوبی جاننے والا ہے۔ ( الحدید: ۳ ) ، پڑھ لیا کرو۔

Abu Hurairah said; His companion came to him and said; Messenger of Allah! We have thoughts which we cannot dare talk about and we do not like that we have them or talk about them. He said: Have you experienced that? They replied: yes. He said: that is clear faith.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: A man came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: Messenger of Allah! one of us has thoughts of such nature that he would rather be reduced to charcoal than speak about them. He said: Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great. Praise be to Allah Who has reduced the guile of the devil to evil prompting. Saeed bin Malik said: My ears heard it end my heart remembered it from Muhammad صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم who said: if a man claims to be the son of a man who is not his father, paradise will be forbidden for him. Two men testified before you. Who are they? He said: One of them is the one who is first to shoot arrow in the path of Allah or in the path of Islam, that is to say: Saad bin Malik. The other is the one came from al-Taif with ten and some men on foot. He then mentioned his excellence. Abu Dawud said: When al-Nufaili mentioned this tradition, he said: I swear by Allah, this is sweater with me than honey, that is no say, his way transmission. Abu Ali said: I heard Abu Dawud say: I heard Ahmad say: The people of Kufah have no light in their traditions. I did not see them like the people of Basrah. They learnt it from Shubah.

Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: if a man becomes the client of any people without the permission of his patrons (i. e. those who have freed him), on him will be the curse of Allah, of angels and of all people; no obligatory or supererogatory worship will be accepted from him.

Anas bin Malik reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: If anyone pretends to be the son of a man other than his father, or attributes his freedom to people other than those who set him free, on him will be the curse of Allah that will continue till the day of resurrection.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Allah, Most High, has removed from you the pride of the pre-Islamic period and its boasting in ancestors. One is only a pious believer or a miserable sinner. You are sons of Adam, and Adam came from dust. Let the people cease to boast about their ancestors. They are merely fuel in Jahannam; or they will certainly be of less account with Allah than the beetle which rolls dung with its nose.
