Translation

Thabit narrated from Anas, that: The Prophet entered upon a young man while he was dying. So he said: How do you feel? He said: By Allah! O Messenger of Allah! Indeed I hope in Allah and I fear from my sins. So the Messenger of Allah said: These two will not be gathered in a worshipper's heart at a time such as this, except that Allah will grant him what he hopes and make him safe from what he fears.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَزَّازُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ هُوَ:‏‏‏‏ ابْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَى شَابٍّ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَيْفَ تَجِدُكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنِّي أَرْجُو اللَّهَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنِّي أَخَافُ ذُنُوبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَجْتَمِعَانِ فِي قَلْبِ عَبْدٍ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْمَوْطِنِ إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ مَا يَرْجُو وَآمَنَهُ مِمَّا يَخَافُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلًا.

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک نوجوان کے پاس آئے اور وہ سکرات کے عالم میں تھا۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم اپنے کو کیسا پا رہے ہو؟“ اس نے عرض کیا: اللہ کی قسم، اللہ کے رسول! مجھے اللہ سے امید ہے اور اپنے گناہوں سے ڈر بھی رہا ہوں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”یہ دونوں چیزیں اس جیسے وقت میں جس بندے کے دل میں جمع ہو جاتی ہیں تو اللہ اسے وہ چیز عطا کر دیتا ہے جس کی وہ اس سے امید رکھتا ہے اور اسے اس چیز سے محفوظ رکھتا ہے جس سے وہ ڈر رہا ہوتا ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن اور غریب ہے، ۲- اور بعض لوگوں نے یہ حدیث ثابت سے اور انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرسلاً روایت کی ہے۔

Abdullah narrated that: The Prophet said: Beware of An-Na'i, for indeed announcing one's death is from the deeds of Jahliyyah.

Bilal bin Yahya Al-Absiy narrated that: Hudaifah (bin Al-Yaman) said: When I do not announce about me to anyone, indeed I fear that it would be An-Na'i, and I heard the Messenger of Allah prohibiting from An-Na'i.
