(Another chain) from Abdullah : (from the Prophet) similar (to no. 984), but he did not narrate it in Marfu form, and he did not mention in it: An-Na'i is announcing of one's death.

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْعَدَنِيُّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ نَحْوَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالنَّعْيُ أَذَانٌ بِالْمَيِّتِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو حَمْزَةَ هُوَ:‏‏‏‏ مَيْمُونٌ الْأَعْوَرُ وَلَيْسَ هُوَ بِالْقَوِيِّ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ 12 أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ كَرِهَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ النَّعْيَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالنَّعْيُ عِنْدَهُمْ أَنْ يُنَادَى فِي النَّاسِ أَنَّ فُلَانًا مَاتَ لِيَشْهَدُوا جَنَازَتَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ:‏‏‏‏ لَا بَأْسَ أَنْ يُعْلِمَ أَهْلَ قَرَابَتِهِ وَإِخْوَانَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرُوِيَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ يُعْلِمَ الرَّجُلُ قَرَابَتَهُ.

اس سند سے بھی عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ سے اسی طرح مروی ہے، اور راوی نے اسے مرفوع نہیں کیا ہے۔ اور اس نے اس میں اس کا بھی ذکر نہیں کیا ہے کہ ” «نعی» موت کے اعلان کا نام ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ۲- یہ عنبسہ کی حدیث سے جسے انہوں نے ابوحمزہ سے روایت کیا ہے زیادہ صحیح ہے، ۳- ابوحمزہ ہی میمون اعور ہیں، یہ اہل حدیث کے نزدیک قوی نہیں ہیں، ۴- بعض اہل علم نے «نعی» کو مکروہ قرار دیا ہے، ان کے نزدیک «نعی» یہ ہے کہ لوگوں میں اعلان کیا جائے کہ فلاں مر گیا ہے تاکہ اس کے جنازے میں شرکت کریں، ۵- بعض اہل علم کہتے ہیں: اس میں کوئی حرج نہیں کہ اس کے رشتے داروں اور اس کے بھائیوں کو اس کے مرنے کی خبر دی جائے، ۶- ابراہیم نخعی کہتے ہیں کہ اس میں کوئی حرج نہیں کہ آدمی کو اس کے اپنے کسی قرابت دار کے مرنے کی خبر دی جائے۔

Bilal bin Yahya Al-Absiy narrated that: Hudaifah (bin Al-Yaman) said: When I do not announce about me to anyone, indeed I fear that it would be An-Na'i, and I heard the Messenger of Allah prohibiting from An-Na'i.

Umm Atiyyah narrated: One of the daughters of the Prophet died, so he said: 'Wash her an odd number of times, three, or five, or more than that as you see fit. Wash her with water and Sidr, and in the last (washing) add camphor, or something from camphor. When you are finished then inform me.' When we finished we informed him so he gave us his waist-sheet and said 'Wrap her in it.'
