It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Ali: Abu Al-Mutawakkil passed by them in the market and some people, including me, stood up to greet him. We said: 'We have come to you to ask you about transactions.' He said: 'I heard a man say to Abu Saeed Al-Khudri': 'Is there anyone between you and the Messenger of Allah (in the chain of narrators) apart from Abu Saeed Al-Khudri? He said: 'There is no one else between him and I. He said: Gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, barley for barley, dates for dates, salt for salt, equal amounts. Whoever gives more than that or takes more has engaged in Riba, and the taker and the giver are the same. '

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ أَبَا الْمُتَوَكِّلِ مَرَّ بِهِمْ فِي السُّوقِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ أَنَا مِنْهُمْ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا أَتَيْنَاكَ لِنَسْأَلَكَ عَنِ الصَّرْفِ ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ:‏‏‏‏ مَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَيْرُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ غَيْرُهُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِنَّ الذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْوَرِقَ بِالْوَرِقِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ:‏‏‏‏ أَوْ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَالْفِضَّةَ بِالْفِضَّةِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْبُرَّ بِالْبُرِّ،‏‏‏‏ وَالشَّعِيرَ بِالشَّعِيرِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالتَّمْرَ بِالتَّمْرِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْمِلْحَ بِالْمِلْحِ،‏‏‏‏ سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَمَنْ زَادَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ،‏‏‏‏ أَوِ ازْدَادَ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَدْ أَرْبَى،‏‏‏‏ وَالْآخِذُ وَالْمُعْطِي فِيهِ سَوَاءٌ .

سلیمان بن علی سے روایت ہے کہ بازار میں ان کے پاس سے ابوالمتوکل کا گزر ہوا، تو کچھ لوگ ان کے پاس گئے، ان لوگوں میں میں بھی تھا، ہم نے کہا: ہم آپ کے پاس آئے ہیں تاکہ آپ سے بیع صرف ۱؎ کے بارے میں پوچھیں، تو انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کو ( کہتے ) سنا، ( اس پر ) ایک شخص نے ان سے کہا: آپ کے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے درمیان ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ کے علاوہ اور کوئی نہیں ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: میرے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے درمیان ان ( ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ ) کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا: سونا سونے کے بدلے اور چاندی چاندی کے بدلے اور گیہوں گیہوں کے بدلے، جَو جَو کے بدلے، کھجور کھجور کے بدلے، نمک نمک کے بدلے برابر برابر ہو، اب جو اس میں زیادہ دے یا زیادہ کا مطالبہ کرے تو اس نے سود کا کام کیا، اور سود لینے اور دینے والے ( جرم میں ) دونوں برابر ہیں۔

It was narrated that 'Ubadah bin As-Samit said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Gold, equal amount. ' (One of the narrators) Yaqub did not mention: Equal amount. Muawiyah said: This does not mean anything. 'Ubadah said; By Allah I do not care if I am in a land where Muawiyah is not present. I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah say that.
