It was narrated that 'Ubadah bin As-Samit said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Gold, equal amount. ' (One of the narrators) Yaqub did not mention: Equal amount. Muawiyah said: This does not mean anything. 'Ubadah said; By Allah I do not care if I am in a land where Muawiyah is not present. I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah say that.

أَخْبَرَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيل:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَكِيمُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ. ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَكِيمُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ الذَّهَبُ الْكِفَّةُ بِالْكِفَّةِ ،‏‏‏‏ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ يَعْقُوبُ:‏‏‏‏ الْكِفَّةُ بِالْكِفَّةِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَقُولُ شَيْئًا،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ عُبَادَةُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أُبَالِي أَنْ لَا أَكُونَ بِأَرْضٍ يَكُونُ بِهَا مُعَاوِيَةُ،‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ.

عبادہ بن صامت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”سونا ایک پلڑا دوسرے پلڑے کے برابر ہو“، تو معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: یہ بات تو میرے سمجھ میں نہیں آتی، تو عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! مجھے پروا نہیں اگر میں اس سر زمین میں نہ رہوں جہاں معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ رہیں، میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے۔

It was narrated from Abu Saeed Al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah said: Do not sell gold for gold except like for like and do not differentiate. Do not sell silver for silver except like for like, and do not sell it in return for something to be paid later.
