Narrated Wathilah ibn al-Asqa: I asked: Messenger of Allah! what is party spirit? He replied: That you should help your people in wrongdoing.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بِنْتِ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ أَبَاهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ مَا الْعَصَبِيَّةُ ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْ تُعِينَ قَوْمَكَ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ .

واثلہ بن اسقع رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول: عصبیت کیا ہے؟ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: عصبیت یہ ہے کہ تم اپنی قوم کا ظلم و زیادتی میں ساتھ دو، اور ان کی مدد کرو ۔

Narrated Suraqah ibn Malik ibn Jusham al-Mudlaji: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم gave us an address and said: The best of you is the one who defends his tribe, so long as he commits no sin. Abu Dawud said: Abu Ayyub bin Suwaid is weak.

Narrated Abu Uqbah: Abdur Rahman ibn Abu Uqbah quoted his father Abu Uqbah who was a client from the people of Persia as saying: I was present at Uhud along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, and on smiting one of the polytheists I said: Take this from me who is the young Persian. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then turned to me and said: Why did you not say: Take this from me who is the young Ansari?

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: A man was with the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and a man passed by him and said: Messenger of Allah! I love this man. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then asked: Have you informed him? He replied: No. He said: Inform him. He then went to him and said: I love you for Allah's sake. He replied: May He for Whose sake you love me love you!
