Ibn Abbas reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: When one of you eats, he must not wipe his hand with a handkerchief till he licks it or gives it to someone to lick.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَمْسَحَنَّ يَدَهُ بِالْمِنْدِيلِ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص کھانا کھائے تو اپنا ہاتھ اس وقت تک رومال سے نہ پونچھے جب تک کہ اسے خود چاٹ نہ لے یا کسی کو چٹا نہ دے ۔

Kaab bin Malik said: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to eat with three fingers and not wipe his before licking it.

Abu Umamah said: When the food cloth was removed, the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: “praise be to Allah abundantly and sincerely, of such a nature as is productive of blessing, is not insufficient, Abandoned, or ignored, O our lord. ”

Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم finished his food, he said: Praise be to Allah Who has given us food and drink and made us Muslims.

Narrated Abu Ayyub al-Ansari: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ate or drank, he said: Praise be to Allah Who has given food and drink and made it easy to swallow, and provided an exit for it.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone spends the night with grease on his hand which he has not washed away, he can blame only himself if some trouble comes to him.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: AbulHaytham ibn at-Tayhan prepared food for the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, and he invited the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and his Companions. When they finished (food), the said: If some people enter the house of a man, his food is eaten and his drink is drunk, and they supplicate (to Allah) for him, this is his reward.
