Abu Umamah said: When the food cloth was removed, the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: “praise be to Allah abundantly and sincerely, of such a nature as is productive of blessing, is not insufficient, Abandoned, or ignored, O our lord. ”
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَوْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَالِدِ بَنِ مَعْدَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَال:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رُفِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا .
ابوامامہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں   جب دستر خوان اٹھایا جاتا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ دعا پڑھتے «الحمد لله كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه غير مكفي ولا مودع ولا مستغنى عنه ربنا» اللہ تعالیٰ کے لیے بہت سارا صاف ستھرا بابرکت شکر ہے، ایسا شکر نہیں جو ایک بار کفایت کرے اور چھوڑ دیا جائے اور اس کی حاجت نہ رہے اے ہمارے رب تو حمد کے لائق ہے ۔

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: AbulHaytham ibn at-Tayhan prepared food for the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, and he invited the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and his Companions. When they finished (food), the said: If some people enter the house of a man, his food is eaten and his drink is drunk, and they supplicate (to Allah) for him, this is his reward.
