Jabir bin Abdullah reported the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Gather your children when darkness spreads, or in the evening (according to Musaddad), for the jinn are abroad and seize them.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفُضَيْلُ بْنُ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ السُّكَّرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ شِنْظِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَفَعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَاكْفِتُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ عِنْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ:‏‏‏‏ عِنْدَ الْمَسَاءِ فَإِنَّ لِلْجِنِّ انْتِشَارًا وَخَطْفَةً.
جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: عشاء کے وقت اپنے بچوں کو اپنے پاس ہی رکھو ( اور مسدد کی روایت میں ہے: شام کے وقت اپنے بچوں کو اپنے پاس رکھو ) کیونکہ یہ جنوں کے پھیلنے اور ( بچوں کو ) اچک لینے کا وقت ہے ۔
