Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: Ali ibn Rabiah said: I was present with Ali while a beast was brought to him to ride. When he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: In the name of Allah. Then when he sat on its back, he said: Praise be to Allah. He then said: Glory be to Him Who has made this subservient to us, for we had not the strength, and to our Lord do we return. He then said: Praise be to Allah (thrice); Allah is Most Great (thrice): glory be to Thee, I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for only Thou forgivest sins. He then laughed. He was asked: At what did you laugh? He replied: I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم do as I have done, and laugh after that. I asked: Messenger of Allah, at what are you laughing? He replied: Your Lord, Most High, is pleased with His servant when he says: Forgive me my sins. He know that no one forgives sins except Him.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ شَهِدْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَأُتِيَ بِدَابَّةٍ لِيَرْكَبَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا وَضَعَ رِجْلَهُ فِي الرِّكَابِ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَى عَلَى ظَهْرِهَا قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ ‏‏‏‏ 13 ‏‏‏‏ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ ‏‏‏‏ 14 ‏‏‏‏ سورة الزخرف آية 13-14، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ ضَحِكَ فَقِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ ضَحِكْتَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ كَمَا فَعَلْتُ ثُمَّ ضَحِكَ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ ضَحِكْتَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْجَبُ مِنْ عَبْدِهِ إِذَا قَالَ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ غَيْرِي .

علی بن ربیعہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس حاضر ہوا، آپ کے لیے ایک سواری لائی گئی تاکہ اس پر سوار ہوں، جب آپ نے اپنا پاؤں رکاب میں رکھا تو «بسم الله» کہا، پھر جب اس کی پشت پر ٹھیک سے بیٹھ گئے تو «الحمد الله» کہا، اور«سبحان الذي سخر لنا هذا وما كنا له مقرنين * وإنا إلى ربنا لمنقلبون» کہا، پھر تین مرتبہ «الحمد الله» کہا، پھر تین مرتبہ«الله اكبر» کہا، پھر «سبحانك إني ظلمت نفسي فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت» کہا، پھر ہنسے، پوچھا گیا: امیر المؤمنین! آپ کیوں ہنس رہے ہیں؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: میں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا کہ آپ نے ایسے ہی کیا جیسے کہ میں نے کیا پھر آپ ہنسے تو میں نے پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ کیوں ہیں ہنس رہے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تیرا رب اپنے بندے سے خوش ہوتا ہے جب وہ کہتا ہے: میرے گناہوں کو بخش دے وہ جانتا ہے کہ گناہوں کو میرے علاوہ کوئی نہیں بخش سکتا ہے ۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was travelling and night came on, he said: O earth, my Lord and your Lord is Allah; I seek refuge in Allah from your evil, the evil of what you contain, the evil of what has been created in you, and the evil of what creeps upon you; I seek refuge in Allah from lions, from large black snakes, from other snakes, from scorpions, from the evil of jinn which inhabit a settlement, and from a parent and his offspring.

Jabir bin Abd Allaah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying “Do not send out your beasts when the sun has set till the darkness of the night prevails, for the devils grope about in the dark when the sun has set till the darkness of the night prevails. ”

Narrated Kab ibn Malik: It was rarely that the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم set out on a journey on any day but on a Thursday.

Narrated Sakhr al-Ghamidi: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: O Allah, bless my people in their early mornings. When he sent out a detachment or an army, he sent them at the beginning of the day. Sakhr was a merchant, and he would send off his merchandise at the beginning of the day; and he became rich and had much wealth. Abu Dawud said: He is Sakhr bin Wada'ah.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: A single rider is a devil, and a pair of riders are a pair of devils, but three are a company of riders.

Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When three are on a journey, they should appoint one of them as their commander.
