Ali b. 'Abual-Rahman al-Mu'awi reported: 'Abdullah b. Umar saw me playing with pebbles during prayer. After finishing the prayer he forbade me (to do it) and said: Do as the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to do. I said: How did Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) do? He said that he (the Messenger of Allah) sat at tashahhud, placed his right palm on the right thigh and closed all his fingers and pointed with the help of finger next to the thumb, and placed his left palm on his left thigh.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُعَاوِيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: رَآنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَأَنَا أَعْبَثُ بِالْحَصَى فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ نَهَانِي فَقَالَ: اصْنَعْ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ، فَقُلْتُ: وَكَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ؟ قَالَ: «كَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى، وَقَبَضَ أَصَابِعَهُ كُلَّهَا وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ الَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ، وَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى»

امام مالک نے مسلم بن ابی مریم سے اور انھوں نے علی بن عبد الرحمان معادی سے روایت کی کہ انھوں نے کہا : مجھے عبد اللہ بن عمر ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ نے دیکھا کہ میں نماز کے دوران ( بے خیالی کے عالم میں نیچے پڑی ہوئی ) کنکریوں سے کھیل رہاتھا ۔ جب انھوں نے سلام پھیرا تو مجھےے منع کیا اورکہا : ویسے کرو جس طرح رسول اللہﷺکیا کرتے تھے ۔ میں نے پوچھا : رسول اللہ ﷺکیا کرتے تھے ؟انھوں نے بتایا : جب آپﷺنماز میں بیٹھنے تو ا پنی دائیں ہتھیلی اپنی دائیں ران پر رکھتے اور سب انگلیوں کو بند کر لیتے اور انگوٹھے کے ساتھ والی انگلی سے اشارہ کرتے اور اپنی بائیں ہتھیلی کو اپنی بائیں ران پررکھتے ۔

Abu Ma'mar reported: There was an Amir in Mecca who pronounced taslim twice. Abdullah said: Where did he get this sunnah? Al-Hakam said: There is a hadith to the effect that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) did like It.

Ibn 'Abbas said: We used to know that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had finished his prayer when we heard the takbir (Allah-O-Akbar).

Ibn 'Abbas reported: We knew the finishing of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) through takbir. 'Amr (b. Dinar) said: I made a mention of it to Abu Mas'ud. hue he rejected it and said: I never narrated it to you. 'Amr said: He did narrate it before this.
