Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) saw some sputum in the direction of the Qibla of the mosque. He turned towards people and said: How Is it that someone amongst you stands before his Lord and then spits out in front of Him? Does any one of you like that he should be made to stand in front of someone and then spit at his face? So when any one of you spits, he must spit on his left side under his foot. But if he does not find (space to spit) he should do like this. Qasim (one of the narrators) spat in his cloth and then folded it and rubbed it.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ: «مَا بَالُ أَحَدِكُمْ يَقُومُ مُسْتَقْبِلَ رَبِّهِ فَيَتَنَخَّعُ أَمَامَهُ، أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُسْتَقْبَلَ فَيُتَنَخَّعَ فِي وَجْهِهِ؟ فَإِذَا تَنَخَّعَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَنَخَّعْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيَقُلْ هَكَذَا» وَوَصَفَ الْقَاسِمُ فَتَفَلَ فِي ثَوْبِهِ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بَعْضَهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ

ابن علیہ نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی ، انھوں قاسم بن مہران سے ، انھوں نے ابو رافع سے اور انھوں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مسجد کے قبلے ( کی سمت ) میں بلغم دیکھا تو لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا : ’’ تم میں سے کسی ایک کو کیا ( ہو جاتا ) ہے ، وہ اپنے رب کی طرف منہ کر کے کھڑا ہوتا ہے ، پھر اپنے سامنے بلغم پھینک دیتا ہے ؟ کیا تم میں سے کسی کو یہ پسند ہے کہ اس کی طرف رخ کیا جائے ، اس کے منہ کے سامنے تھوک دیا جائے ؟ چنانچہ جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص کھنگار پھینکنا چاہے تو وہ اپنی جائیں جانب قدم کے نیچے پھینکے ، اگر اس کی گنجائش نہ پائے تو ایسے کر لے ۔ ‘ ‘ قاسم نے اس ک وضاحت میں اپنے کپڑے میں تھوکا ، پھر اس کے ایک حصے کو دوسرے پر رگڑ دیا

Abu Huraira reported: I perceive as if I am looking at the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) folding up a part of his cloth with another one.

Anas b. Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: When any one of you is engaged in prayer, he is holding intimate conversation with his Lord, so none of you must spit in front of him, or towards his right side, but towards his left side under his foot.

Anas b. Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Spitting in a mosque is a sin, and its expiation is that it should be buried.

Shu'ba reported: I asked Qatada about spitting, in the mosque. He said: I heard Anas b. Malik say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) say: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is that it should be buried.

Abu Dharr reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: The deeds of my people, good and bad, were presented before me, and I found the removal of something objectionable from the road among their good deeds, and the sputum mucus left unburied in the mosque among their evil deeds.

Abdullah b. Shakhkhir reported on the authority of his father that he said: I said prayer with the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and saw him spitting and rubbing it off with his shoe.
