Shu'ba reported: I asked Qatada about spitting, in the mosque. He said: I heard Anas b. Malik say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) say: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is that it should be buried.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ التَّفْلِ، فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «التَّفْلُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ خَطِيئَةٌ، وَكَفَّارَتُهَا دَفْنُهَا»

) ( ابو عوانہ کے بجائے ) شعبہ نے کہا : میں نے قتادہ سے مسجد میں تھوکنے کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انھوں نے کہا : میں نے حضرت انس بن مالک ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے سنا ، وہ کہتے تھے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا : ’’ مسجد میں تھوکنا ایک گنا ہ ہے اور اس کا کفارہ اسے دفن کرنا ہے ۔ ‘ ‘

Abu Dharr reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: The deeds of my people, good and bad, were presented before me, and I found the removal of something objectionable from the road among their good deeds, and the sputum mucus left unburied in the mosque among their evil deeds.

Abdullah b. Shakhkhir reported on the authority of his father that he said: I said prayer with the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and saw him spitting and rubbing it off with his shoe.

Abdullah b. Shakhkhir narrated it on the authority of his father that he said prayer with the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), and he spat and then rubbed it off with his left shoe.

A'isha reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) prayed in a garment which had designs over it, so he (the Holy Prophet) said: Take it to Abu Jahm and bring me a plain blanket from him, because its designs have distracted me.
