Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: That his father was martyred on the day of the battle of Uhud and was in debt and left six (orphan) daughters. Jabir, added, When the season of plucking the dates came, I went to Allah's Apostle and said, You know that my father was martyred on the day of Uhud, and he was heavily in debt, and I would like that the creditors should see you. The Prophet said, Go and pile every kind of dates apart. I did so and called him (i.e. the Prophet ). When the creditors saw him, they started claiming their debts from me then in such a harsh manner (as they had never done before). So when he saw their attitude, he went round the biggest heap of dates thrice, and then sat over it and said, 'O Jabir), call your companions (i.e. the creditors).' Then he kept on measuring (and giving) to the creditors (their due) till Allah paid all the debt of my father. I would have been satisfied to retain nothing of those dates for my sisters after Allah had paid the debts of my father. But Allah saved all the heaps (of dates), so that when I looked at the heap where the Prophet had been sitting, it seemed as if a single date had not been taken away thereof.

حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي سُرَيْجٍ , أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى , حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ , عَنْ فِرَاسٍ , عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا , أَنَّ أَبَاهُ اسْتُشْهِدَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَتَرَكَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنًا , وَتَرَكَ سِتَّ بَنَاتٍ , فَلَمَّا حَضَرَ جِزَازُ النَّخْلِ قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ : قَدْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ وَالِدِي قَدِ اسْتُشْهِدَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَتَرَكَ دَيْنًا كَثِيرًا وَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَرَاكَ الْغُرَمَاءُ , فَقَالَ : اذْهَبْ فَبَيْدِرْ كُلَّ تَمْرٍ عَلَى نَاحِيَةٍ , فَفَعَلْتُ ثُمَّ دَعَوْتُهُ , فَلَمَّا نَظَرُوا إِلَيْهِ كَأَنَّهُمْ أُغْرُوا بِي تِلْكَ السَّاعَةَ , فَلَمَّا رَأَى مَا يَصْنَعُونَ أَطَافَ حَوْلَ أَعْظَمِهَا بَيْدَرًا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ , ثُمَّ جَلَسَ عَلَيْهِ , ثُمَّ قَالَ : ادْعُ لِي أَصْحَابَكَ , فَمَا زَالَ يَكِيلُ لَهُمْ حَتَّى أَدَّى اللَّهُ عَنْ وَالِدِي أَمَانَتَهُ , وَأَنَا أَرْضَى أَنْ يُؤَدِّيَ اللَّهُ أَمَانَةَ وَالِدِي وَلَا أَرْجِعَ إِلَى أَخَوَاتِي بِتَمْرَةٍ , فَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُ الْبَيَادِرَ كُلَّهَا وَحَتَّى إِنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْبَيْدَرِ الَّذِي كَانَ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَأَنَّهَا لَمْ تَنْقُصْ تَمْرَةً وَاحِدَةً .

ہم سے احمد بن ابی شریح نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو عبیداللہ بن موسیٰ نے خبر دی، ان سے شیبان نے بیان کیا، ان سے فراس نے، ان سے شعبی نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا کہ ان کے والد ( عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ ) احد کی لڑائی میں شہید ہو گئے تھے اور قرض چھوڑ گئے تھے اور چھ لڑکیاں بھی۔ جب درختوں سے کھجور اتارے جانے کا وقت قریب آیا تو انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا کہ جیسا کہ آپ کے علم میں ہے، میرے والد صاحب احد کی لڑائی میں شہید ہو گئے اور قرض چھوڑ گئے ہیں، میں چاہتا تھا کہ قرض خواہ آپ کو دیکھ لیں ( اور کچھ نرمی برتیں ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جاؤ اور ہر قسم کی کھجور کا الگ الگ ڈھیر لگا لو۔ میں نے حکم کے مطابق عمل کیا اور پھر آپ کو بلانے گیا۔ جب قرض خواہوں نے آپ کو دیکھا تو جیسے اس وقت مجھ پر اور زیادہ بھڑک اٹھے۔ ( کیونکہ وہ یہودی تھے ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جب ان کا یہ طرز عمل دیکھا تو آپ پہلے سب سے بڑے ڈھیر کے چاروں طرف تین مرتبہ گھومے۔ اس کے بعد اس پر بیٹھ گئے اور فرمایا اپنے قرض خواہوں کو بلا لاؤ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم برابر انہیں ناپ کے دیتے رہے یہاں تک کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے میرے والد کی طرف سے ان کی ساری امانت ادا کر دی۔ میں اس پر خوش تھا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ میرے والد کی امانت ادا کرا دے اور میں اپنی بہنوں کے لیے ایک کھجور بھی نہ لے جاؤں لیکن اللہ تعالیٰ نے تمام دوسرے ڈھیر بچا دیئے بلکہ اس ڈھیر کو بھی جب دیکھا جس پر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ جیسے اس میں سے ایک کھجور کا دانہ بھی کم نہیں ہوا۔

Narrated Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas: I saw Allah's Apostle on the day of the battle of Uhud accompanied by two men fighting on his behalf. They were dressed in white and were fighting as bravely as possible. I had never seen them before, nor did I see them later on.

Narrated Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas: The Prophet took out a quiver (of arrows) for me on the day of Uhud and said, Throw (arrows); let my father and mother be sacrificed for you.

Narrated Ibn Al Musaiyab: Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas said, Allah's Apostle mentioned both his father and mother for me on the day of the battle of Uhud. He meant when the Prophet said (to Sa`d) while the latter was fighting. Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you!

Narrated `Ali: I have never heard the Prophet mentioning his father and mother for anybody other than Sa`d bin Malik. I heard him saying on the day of Uhud, O Sa`d throw (arrows)! Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you !
