Translation

Narrated Abu Huraira: that Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, Whoever attends the funeral procession till he offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever accompanies it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirats. It was asked, What are two Qirats? He replied, Like two huge mountains.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ , قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ شَبِيبِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ , قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَنْ شَهِدَ الْجَنَازَةَ حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَ حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ كَانَ لَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ , قِيلَ : وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ ؟ , قَالَ : مِثْلُ الْجَبَلَيْنِ الْعَظِيمَيْنِ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ میں نے ابن ابی ذئب کے سامنے یہ حدیث پڑھی ‘ ان سے ابوسعید مقبری نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے ان کے باپ نے ‘ انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا تو آپ نے فرمایا کہ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا تھا۔ ( دوسری سند ) ہم سے احمد بن شبیب نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے یونس نے بیان کیا کہ ابن شہاب نے کہا کہ ( مجھ سے فلاں نے یہ بھی حدیث بیان کی ) اور مجھ سے عبدالرحمٰن اعرج نے بھی کہا کہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جس نے جنازہ میں شرکت کی پھر نماز جنازہ پڑھی تو اسے ایک قیراط کا ثواب ملتا ہے اور جو دفن تک ساتھ رہا تو اسے دو قیراط کا ثواب ملتا ہے۔ پوچھا گیا کہ دو قیراط کتنے ہوں گے؟ فرمایا کہ دو عظیم پہاڑوں کے برابر۔

Narrated 'Amir: Ibn `Abbas (who was at that time a boy) said, Allah's Apostle came to a grave and the people said, 'He or she was buried yesterday.' Ibn `Abbas added, We aligned behind the Prophet and he led the funeral prayer of the deceased.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle informed about the news of the death of An-Najash (King of Ethiopia) on the day he expired. He said, Ask Allah's forgiveness for your brother.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet made them align in rows at the Musalla and said four Takbir.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: The Jew brought to the Prophet a man and a woman from amongst them who have committed (adultery) illegal sexual intercourse. He ordered both of them to be stoned (to death), near the place of offering the funeral prayers beside the mosque.

Narrated `Urwa: Aisha said, The Prophet in his fatal illness said, 'Allah cursed the Jews and the Christians because they took the graves of their Prophets as places for praying. ' Aisha added, Had it not been for that, the grave of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) would have been made prominent but I am afraid it might be taken (as a) place for praying.

Narrated Samura bin Jundab: I offered the funeral prayer behind the Prophet for a woman who had died during childbirth and he stood up by the middle of the coffin.
