Narrated `Urwa: Aisha said, The Prophet in his fatal illness said, 'Allah cursed the Jews and the Christians because they took the graves of their Prophets as places for praying. ' Aisha added, Had it not been for that, the grave of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) would have been made prominent but I am afraid it might be taken (as a) place for praying.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ هِلَالٍ هُوَ الْوَزَّانُ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ : لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ ، وَالنَّصَارَى اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسْجِدًا ، قَالَتْ : وَلَوْلَا ذَلِكَ لَأَبْرَزُوا قَبْرَهُ غَيْرَ أَنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يُتَّخَذَ مَسْجِدًا .

ہم سے عبیداللہ بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے شیبان نے ‘ ان سے ہلال وزان نے ‘ ان سے عروہ نے اور ان سے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے مرض وفات میں فرمایا کہ یہود اور نصاریٰ پر اللہ کی لعنت ہو کہ انہوں نے اپنے انبیاء کی قبروں کو مساجد بنا لیا۔ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا کہ اگر ایسا ڈر نہ ہوتا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی قبر کھلی رہتی ( اور حجرہ میں نہ ہوتی ) کیونکہ مجھے ڈر اس کا ہے کہ کہیں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی قبر بھی مسجد نہ بنا لی جائے۔
