وَرَوَاهُ سفيان الثوري، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ نَحْوَ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَأَكْثَرُ مَا رُوِي عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً مَعَ الْوِتْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَقَلُّ مَا وُصِفَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ بِاللَّيْلِ تِسْعُ رَكَعَاتٍ .
سفیان ثوری نے بھی   یہ حدیث اسی طرح اعمش سے روایت کی ہے، ہم سے اسے محمود بن غیلان نے بیان کیا، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم سے یحییٰ بن آدم نے بیان کیا اور انہوں نے سفیان سے اور سفیان نے اعمش سے روایت کی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: رات کی نماز کے سلسلے میں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے زیادہ سے زیادہ وتر کے ساتھ تیرہ رکعتیں مروی ہیں، اور کم سے کم نو رکعتیں۔

Abu Hurairah narrated that: Allah's Messenger (S) said: Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, descends to the earth's heaven every night when the first third of the night has passed. He says: I am the Sovereign. Is there any who calls upon Me so that I may respond to him? Is there any who asks of Me that I may give him? Is there any who seeks forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him?' He continues in that until the illumination of Al-Fajr.

Abu Qatadah narrated that : The Prophet (S) said to Abu Bakr: I passed by you while you were reciting and your voice was low. He said: I let He who, I was consulting hear. He said: Raise your voice. Then he said to Umar: I passed by while you were reciting and your voice was loud. So he said: I repel drowsiness and keep Ash-Shaitan away. So he said: Lower your voice.
