Abu Dharr said that : Allah's Messenger said: When a man performs Salat, and there is nothing in front of him like the post of a saddle, or a camel saddle, then his Salat is severed by (passing of) a black dog, a woman, and a donkey. It was said to Abu Dharr: What is the problem with the black dog rather than the red or white one? He said: O my nephew! I asked Allah's Messenger just as you have asked me. He said: 'The black dog is a Shaitan (devil).'

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، وَمَنْصُورُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا صَلَّى الرَّجُلُ وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ كَآخِرَةِ الرَّحْلِ أَوْ كَوَاسِطَةِ الرَّحْلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَطَعَ صَلَاتَهُ الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْحِمَارُ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي ذَرٍّ:‏‏‏‏ مَا بَالُ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْأَحْمَرِ مِنَ الْأَبْيَضِ ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي سَأَلْتَنِي كَمَا سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ شَيْطَانٌ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَبِي ذَرٍّ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ الْحِمَارُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَحْمَدُ:‏‏‏‏ الَّذِي لَا أَشُكُّ فِيهِ أَنَّ الْكَلْبَ الْأَسْوَدَ يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي نَفْسِي مِنَ الْحِمَارِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ شَيْءٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ إِسْحَاق:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَقْطَعُهَا شَيْءٌ إِلَّا الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ.

ابوذر رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب آدمی نماز پڑھے اور اس کے سامنے کجاوے کی آخری ( لکڑی یا کہا: کجاوے کی بیچ کی لکڑی کی طرح ) کوئی چیز نہ ہو تو: کالے کتے، عورت اور گدھے کے گزرنے سے اس کی نماز باطل ہو جائے گی“ ۱؎ میں نے ابوذر سے کہا: لال، اور سفید کے مقابلے میں کالے کی کیا خصوصیت ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: میرے بھتیجے! تم نے مجھ سے ایسے ہی پوچھا ہے جیسے میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا تھا تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”کالا کتا شیطان ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابوذر رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابو سعید خدری، حکم بن عمرو بن غفاری، ابوہریرہ اور انس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- بعض اہل علم اسی طرف گئے ہیں، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ گدھا، عورت اور کالا کتا نماز کو باطل کر دیتا ہے۔ احمد بن حنبل کہتے ہیں: مجھے اس میں کوئی شک نہیں کہ کالا کتا نماز باطل کر دیتا ہے لیکن گدھے اور عورت کے سلسلے میں مجھے کچھ تذبذب ہے، اسحاق بن راہویہ کہتے ہیں: کالے کتے کے سوا کوئی اور چیز نماز باطل نہیں کرتی۔

Umar bin Abi Salamah narrated that he saw : Allah's Messenger performing Salat in the house of Umm Salamah wrapped in one garment.

Al-Bara bin Azib narrated: When Allah's Messener arrived in Al-Madinah, he faced Bait Al-Maqdis in Salat for sixteen or seventeen months. Allah's Messenger longed to face the direction of the Ka'bah, so Allah Most High revealed: Verily! We have seen the turning of your face towards the heaven. Surely We shall turn you o a Qiblah that shall please you. So turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid Al-Haram.So he faced the Ka'bah, and he liked that. A man performed the Asr prayer with him, then passed by some of the Ansar who were bowing in Salat for Asr while facing Bait Al-Maqdis. He told them that he had faced the direction of the Ka'bah, so they changed (their direction) while they were bowing. [He said:] There are narrations on this topic from Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, Umarah bin Aws, Amr bin Awf Al-Muzani and Anas.
