Abu Sa'eed narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: the key to Salat is the purification, its Tahrim is the Takbir, and its Tahlilis the Taslim, and there is no Salat for one who did not recite Al-Hamd and a Surah in the obligatory (prayer) or other prayers.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ طَرِيفٍ السَّعْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مِفْتَاحُ الصَّلَاةِ الطُّهُورُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتَحْرِيمُهَا التَّكْبِيرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتَحْلِيلُهَا التَّسْلِيمُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَمْدُ وَسُورَةٍ فِي فَرِيضَةٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهَا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فِي هَذَا أَجْوَدُ إِسْنَادًا وَأَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ كَتَبْنَاهُ فِي أَوَّلِ كِتَابِ الْوُضُوءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالشَّافِعِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاق:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ تَحْرِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ التَّكْبِيرُ وَلَا يَكُونُ الرَّجُلُ دَاخِلًا فِي الصَّلَاةِ إِلَّا بِالتَّكْبِيرِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وسَمِعْت أَبَا بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبَانَ مُسْتَمْلِيَ وَكِيعٍ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ لَوِ افْتَتَحَ الرَّجُلُ الصَّلَاةَ بِسَبْعِينَ اسْمًا مِنْ أَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ وَلَمْ يُكَبِّرْ لَمْ يُجْزِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنْ أَحْدَثَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ أَمَرْتُهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى مَكَانِهِ فَيُسَلِّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّمَا الْأَمْرُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ. قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَبُو نَضْرَةَ اسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ قُطَعَةَ.

ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”نماز کی کنجی وضو ( طہارت ) ہے، اس کی تحریم تکبیر ہے اور اس کی تحلیل سلام پھیرنا ہے، اور اس آدمی کی نماز ہی نہیں جو «الحمدللہ» ( سورۃ فاتحہ ) اور اس کے ساتھ کوئی اور سورۃ نہ پڑھے خواہ فرض نماز ہو یا کوئی اور نماز ہو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- اس باب میں علی اور عائشہ رضی الله عنہما سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔ ۳- علی بن ابی طالب رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث سند کے اعتبار سے سب سے عمدہ اور ابو سعید خدری کی حدیث سے زیادہ صحیح ہے، ہم اسے کتاب الوضو کے شروع میں ذکر کر چکے ہیں ( حدیث نمبر: ۳ ) ، ۴- صحابہ کرام اور ان کے بعد کے اہل علم کا عمل اسی پر ہے، یہی سفیان ثوری، ابن مبارک، شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی کہتے ہیں کہ نماز کی تحریم تکبیر ہے، آدمی نماز میں تکبیر کے ( یعنی اللہ اکبر کہے ) بغیر داخل نہیں ہو سکتا، ۵- عبدالرحمٰن بن مہدی کہتے ہیں: اگر آدمی اللہ کے ناموں میں سے ستر نام لے کر نماز شروع کرے اور ”اللہ اکبر“ نہ کہے تو بھی یہ اسے کافی نہ ہو گا۔ اور اگر سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے اسے حدث لاحق ہو جائے تو میں اسے حکم دیتا ہوں کہ وضو کرے پھر اپنی ( نماز کی ) جگہ آ کر بیٹھے اور سلام پھیرے، اور حکم ( رسول ) اپنے حال ( ظاہر ) پر ( باقی ) رہے گا ۱؎۔

Abu Hurairah narrated: When Allah's Messenger would enter the Salat he would raise his hands while they were extended.

Anas bin Malik narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: Whoever performs Salat for Allah for forty days in congregation, catching the first Takbir, two absolutions are written for him: absolution from the Fire, and absolution from the Fire, and absolution from hypocrisy.

Abu Sa'eeed Al Khudri narrated: When Allah;s Messenger stood for Salat during the night, he would say the Takbir (Allahu Akbar), then say: (Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa Tabarakasmuka wa Ta'ala Jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk.) 'Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blesses is Your Name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You' Then he would say: (A'udhu Bilahi As-Sami'il-Alimi min Ash-Shaitanir-Rajimi, min Hamzihi Wa Nafkhihi wa Nafthihi.) 'Allah is undoubtedly the greatest.' (Allahu Akbaru Kabira). Then he would say: 'I seek refuge in Allah the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the cursed Shaitan, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.'

Aishah narrated: When the Prophet opened the Salat he would say: (Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa tabarakasmuka, wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk) 'Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blessed is Your Name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You.'

Ibn Abdullah bin Mughaffal narrated: While I was praying, I said: Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent. My father heard me and said: O my son this is a newly invented matter, beware of the newly-invented.' He (Ibn Abdullah) said: I have not seen any one of the Companions of Allah's Messenger who hated a newly invented matter in Islam more than him. And he said: 'Ihave performed Salat with the Prophet, and with Abu Bakr, and Umar, and with Uthman. I did not hear any one of them saying it. So do not say it. When you are performing Salat say: Al-Hamdu lilahi Rabbil-Alamin All praise is due to Allah the Lord of all that exists.'
