Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Prophet said: When one of you leads the people in prayer then let him be brief, for indeed here are among them the young and the old, the weak and the ill. When one of you prays alone, then let him pray as he wishes.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَمَّ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّاسَ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الصَّغِيرَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَالضَّعِيفَ وَالْمَرِيضَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا صَلَّى وَحْدَهُ فَلْيُصَلِّ كَيْفَ شَاءَ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي وَاقِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ اخْتَارُوا أَنْ لَا يُطِيلَ الْإِمَامُ الصَّلَاةَ مَخَافَةَ الْمَشَقَّةِ عَلَى الضَّعِيفِ وَالْكَبِيرِ وَالْمَرِيضِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَأَبُو الزِّنَادِ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْأَعْرَجُ هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ الْمَدِينِيُّ وَيُكْنَى أَبَا دَاوُدَ.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم میں سے کوئی لوگوں کی امامت کرے تو چاہیئے کہ ہلکی نماز پڑھائے، کیونکہ ان میں چھوٹے، بڑے، کمزور اور بیمار سبھی ہوتے ہیں اور جب وہ تنہا نماز پڑھے تو جیسے چاہے پڑھے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عدی بن حاتم، انس، جابر بن سمرہ، مالک بن عبداللہ، ابوواقد، عثمان، ابومسعود، جابر بن عبداللہ اور ابن عباس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- یہی اکثر اہل علم کا قول ہے، ان لوگوں نے اسی کو پسند کیا کہ امام نماز لمبی نہ پڑھائے تاکہ کمزور، بوڑھے اور بیمار لوگوں کو پریشانی نہ ہو۔

Anas [bin Malik] narrated: Allah's Messenger was among the lightest of people in Salat with its completeness.

Abu Sa'eed narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: the key to Salat is the purification, its Tahrim is the Takbir, and its Tahlilis the Taslim, and there is no Salat for one who did not recite Al-Hamd and a Surah in the obligatory (prayer) or other prayers.

Anas bin Malik narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: Whoever performs Salat for Allah for forty days in congregation, catching the first Takbir, two absolutions are written for him: absolution from the Fire, and absolution from the Fire, and absolution from hypocrisy.

Abu Sa'eeed Al Khudri narrated: When Allah;s Messenger stood for Salat during the night, he would say the Takbir (Allahu Akbar), then say: (Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika wa Tabarakasmuka wa Ta'ala Jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk.) 'Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blesses is Your Name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You' Then he would say: (A'udhu Bilahi As-Sami'il-Alimi min Ash-Shaitanir-Rajimi, min Hamzihi Wa Nafkhihi wa Nafthihi.) 'Allah is undoubtedly the greatest.' (Allahu Akbaru Kabira). Then he would say: 'I seek refuge in Allah the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the cursed Shaitan, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.'
