Translation

Arabic, English and Urdu

Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: Do not perform Istinja, with dung, nor with bones. For indeed it is provisions for your brothers among the Jinn.

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَسْتَنْجُوا بِالرَّوْثِ وَلَا بِالْعِظَامِ فَإِنَّهُ زَادُ إِخْوَانِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ . وَفِي الْبَاب:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَسَلْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ وَجَابِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَغَيْرُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ الْجِنِّ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَسْتَنْجُوا بِالرَّوْثِ وَلَا بِالْعِظَامِ فَإِنَّهُ زَادُ إِخْوَانِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ ،‏‏‏‏ وَكَأَنَّ رِوَايَةَ إِسْمَاعِيل أَصَحُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَاب:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ جَابِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا.

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”گوبر اور ہڈی سے استنجاء نہ کرو کیونکہ وہ تمہارے بھائیوں جنوں کی خوراک ہے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- اس باب میں ابوہریرہ، سلمان، جابر، ابن عمر رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث مروی ہیں۔ ۲- اسماعیل بن ابراہیم وغیرہ نے بسند «داود ابن ابی ہند عن شعبی عن علقمہ» روایت کی ہے کہ عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ «لیلة الجن» میں نبی اکرم صلی الله علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے ۲؎ آگے انہوں نے پوری حدیث ذکر کی جو لمبی ہے، شعبی کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی الله علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا گوبر اور ہڈی سے استنجاء نہ کرو کیونکہ یہ تمہارے بھائیوں ( جنوں ) کی خوراک ہے، ۳- گویا اسماعیل بن ابراہیم کی روایت حفص بن غیاث کی روایت سے زیادہ صحیح ہے ۳؎، ۴- اہل علم کا اسی حدیث پر عمل ہے، ۵- اور اس باب میں جابر اور ابن عمر رضی الله عنہما سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔

Aishah said: Encourage your Husbands to clean themselves with water, for I am too shy of them, and Allah's Messenger would do that.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation, then I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer.

Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani said : 'I heard Allah's Messenger saying: 'If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation then, I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer and to delay the Isha prayer until the third of the night.' He [Abu Salamah, one of the narrators] said: Zaid bin Khalid wouId attend the prayer in the Masjid and his Siwak would be on his ear in the location of the pen on the ear of a writer. He would not get up to pray without cleaning his teeth, then returning it to its location.

Abu Hurairah reported that the : Prophet said: When on of you awakens in the night, then let him not put his hand into the vessel until he has poured water on two times, or three times, for indeed he does not know where his hand has spent the night.
