Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani said : 'I heard Allah's Messenger saying: 'If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation then, I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer and to delay the Isha prayer until the third of the night.' He [Abu Salamah, one of the narrators] said: Zaid bin Khalid wouId attend the prayer in the Masjid and his Siwak would be on his ear in the location of the pen on the ear of a writer. He would not get up to pray without cleaning his teeth, then returning it to its location.

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ وَلَأَخَّرْتُ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ . قال:‏‏‏‏ فَكَانَ زَيْدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ يَشْهَدُ الصَّلَوَاتِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَسِوَاكُهُ عَلَى أُذُنِهِ مَوْضِعَ الْقَلَمِ مِنْ أُذُنِ الْكَاتِبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا يَقُومُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ إِلَّا أُسْتَنَّ ثُمَّ رَدَّهُ إِلَى مَوْضِعِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

زید بن خالد جہنی رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے: ”اگر مجھے اپنی امت کو حرج و مشقت میں مبتلا کرنے کا خطرہ نہ ہوتا تو میں انہیں ہر صلاۃ کے وقت ( وجوباً ) مسواک کرنے کا حکم دیتا، نیز میں عشاء کو تہائی رات تک مؤخر کرتا ( راوی حدیث ) ابوسلمہ کہتے ہیں: اس لیے زید بن خالد رضی الله عنہ نماز کے لیے مسجد آتے تو مسواک ان کے کان پر بالکل اسی طرح ہوتی جیسے کاتب کے کان پر قلم ہوتا ہے، وہ نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوتے تو مسواک کرتے پھر اسے اس کی جگہ پر واپس رکھ لیتے ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔

Abu Hurairah reported that the : Prophet said: When on of you awakens in the night, then let him not put his hand into the vessel until he has poured water on two times, or three times, for indeed he does not know where his hand has spent the night.

Rabah bin Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Sufyan bin Huwaitib narrated from his grandmother, from her father; she said (that he said): I heard Allah's Messenger saying: there is no Wudu for one who does not mention Allah's Name over it.

Salamah bin Qais narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: When you perform Wudu then sniff water in the nose and blow it out, and when you use small stones (to remove filth) then make it odd (numbered).

Hassan bin Bilal said: 1 saw Ammar bin Yasir performing Wudu, so he went through his beard (with his hand). It was said to him - or he said - 1 said: 'You go through your beard?' He said: 'And what is there to prevent me? Indeed I saw Allah's Messenger going through his beard.'
