Aishah said: Encourage your Husbands to clean themselves with water, for I am too shy of them, and Allah's Messenger would do that.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ البصري،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ أَنْ يَسْتَطِيبُوا بِالْمَاءِ فَإِنِّي أَسْتَحْيِيهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ . وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَسٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلَيْهِ الْعَمَلُ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ:‏‏‏‏ يَخْتَارُونَ الِاسْتِنْجَاءَ بِالْمَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنْ كَانَ الِاسْتِنْجَاءُ بِالْحِجَارَةِ يُجْزِئُ عِنْدَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّهُمُ اسْتَحَبُّوا الِاسْتِنْجَاءَ بِالْمَاءِ وَرَأَوْهُ أَفْضَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالشَّافِعِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَحْمَدُ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِسْحَاق.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ تم عورتیں اپنے شوہروں سے کہو کہ وہ پانی سے استنجاء کیا کریں، میں ان سے ( یہ بات کہتے ) شرما رہی ہوں، کیونکہ رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم ایسا ہی کرتے تھے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں جریر بن عبداللہ بجلی، انس، اور ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اسی پر اہل علم کا عمل ہے ۱؎، وہ پانی سے استنجاء کرنے کو پسند کرتے ہیں اگرچہ پتھر سے استنجاء ان کے نزدیک کافی ہے پھر بھی پانی سے استنجاء کو انہوں نے مستحب اور افضل قرار دیا ہے۔ سفیان ثوری، ابن مبارک، شافعی، احمد، اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی اسی کے قائل ہیں۔

Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah said: I was with the Prophet on a journey. The Prophet had to relieve himself, so he went far away.

Abdullah bin Mughaffal narrated that : the Prophet prohibited that a man should urinate in his bathing area. And he said: It will only cause misgivings. [He said:] There are narrations on This topic from a man from among the Companions of the Prophet.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation, then I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer.

Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani said : 'I heard Allah's Messenger saying: 'If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation then, I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer and to delay the Isha prayer until the third of the night.' He [Abu Salamah, one of the narrators] said: Zaid bin Khalid wouId attend the prayer in the Masjid and his Siwak would be on his ear in the location of the pen on the ear of a writer. He would not get up to pray without cleaning his teeth, then returning it to its location.

Abu Hurairah reported that the : Prophet said: When on of you awakens in the night, then let him not put his hand into the vessel until he has poured water on two times, or three times, for indeed he does not know where his hand has spent the night.

Rabah bin Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Sufyan bin Huwaitib narrated from his grandmother, from her father; she said (that he said): I heard Allah's Messenger saying: there is no Wudu for one who does not mention Allah's Name over it.
