It was narrated that Wa’il bin Hujr said: “I said: ‘I will look at the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and see how he performs the prayer.’ He stood up and faced the Qiblah, and raised his hands until they were parallel to his ears. When he bowed, he raised them likewise, and when he raised his head from Ruku’, he raised them likewise.”
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الضَّرِيرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ َأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي؟ فَقَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا أُذُنَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ رَفَعَهُمَا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَهُمَا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
وائل بن حجر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے اپنے دل میں سوچا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو میں ضرور دیکھوں گا کہ آپ کیسے نماز پڑھتے ہیں، ( چنانچہ ایک روز میں نے دیکھا ) کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے، قبلے کی طرف رخ کیا، اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو اٹھایا یہاں تک کہ انہیں اپنے دونوں کانوں کے بالمقابل کیا، پھر جب رکوع کیا تو ( بھی ) اسی طرح اٹھایا ( یعنی رفع یدین کیا ) ، اور جب رکوع سے اپنا سر اٹھایا، تو ( بھی ) اسی طرح اٹھایا ۱؎۔

It was narrated from Abu Zubair that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah would raise his hands when he began the prayer, and when he bowed, and when he raised (his head) from Ruku’ he would do likewise, and he said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) doing that.” (One of the narrators) said: “Ibrahim bin Tahman (one of the narrators) raised his hands to his ears.”
