It was narrated that ‘Ali bin Shaiban who was part of a delegation (to the Prophet (ﷺ)) said: “We set out until we came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and we gave him our oath of allegiance and performed prayer behind him. He glanced out of the corner of his eye at a man who was not settling his spine when he bowed and prostrated. When the Prophet (ﷺ) finished the prayer, he said: ‘O Muslims, there is no prayer for the one who does not settle his spine when bowing and prostrating

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُلَازِمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ مِنَ الْوَفْدِ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجْنَا حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَايَعْنَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَصَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَحَ بِمُؤْخِرِ عَيْنِهِ رَجُلًا لَا يُقِيمُ صَلَاتَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَعْنِي:‏‏‏‏ صُلْبَهُ فِي الرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَا يُقِيمُ صُلْبَهُ فِي الرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ .

علی بن شیبان رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے اور وہ ان لوگوں میں سے تھے جو اپنی قوم کے نمائندہ بن کر آئے تھے، وہ کہتے ہیں: ہم نکلے یہاں تک کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، ہم نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بیعت کی اور آپ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، آپ نے کنکھیوں سے ایک شخص کو دیکھا جو رکوع و سجود میں اپنی پیٹھ سیدھی نہیں کر رہا تھا، جب نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو فرمایا: اے مسلمانوں کی جماعت! اس شخص کی نماز نہیں ہو گی جو رکوع و سجود میں اپنی پیٹھ سیدھی نہ رکھے ۔

It was narrated that Rashid said: “I heard Wabisah bin Ma’bad saying: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performing prayer, and when he bowed he made his back so straight that if water were poured on it, it would have stayed there.

It was narrated that Mus’ab bin Sa’d said: “I bowed (in prayer) beside my father, and I put my hands between my knees. He struck my hand and said: ‘We used to do that, then we were commanded to put them on the knees.’”

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to bow with his hands on his knees and his upper arms held away from his sides.”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),” he said: “Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (O our Lord, to You is the praise).”

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When the Imam says: ‘Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),’ say: ‘Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (O our Lord, to You is the praise).’”

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “When the Imam says: ‘Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),’ say: ‘Allahumma, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (O Allah! O our Lord! To You is the praise).’”
