Translation

Arabic, English and Urdu

It was narrated from Abu Buraidah from his father that: An-Najashi gave the Prophet a gift of a pair of plain black leather socks. He put them on, then he (performed ablution and) wiped over them.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا دَلْهَمُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حُجَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْكِنْدِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ النَّجَاشِيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَهْدَى لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُفَّيْنِ أَسْوَدَيْنِ سَاذَجَيْنِ فَلَبِسَهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا .

بریدہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نجاشی نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دو سیاہ سادے موزے بطور ہدیہ پیش کئے، آپ نے انہیں پہنا، پھر وضو کیا اور ان پر مسح کیا۔

It was narrated from Mughirah bin Shu'bah that: The Messenger of Allah wiped over the top and the bottom of the leather socks

It was narrated that Jabir said: The Messenger of Allah passed by a man who was performing ablution and washing his leather socks. He gestures with his hand, (and said): 'Rather I have been commanded to wipe them.' The Messenger of Allah gestured with his hand like this, from the tips of the toes to the base of the shin, tracing lines with his fingers.

It was narrated that Shuraih bin Hani' said: I asked 'Aishah about wiping over the leather socks and she said: 'Go to 'Ali and ask him, for he knows more about that than I do.' So I went to 'Ali and asked him about wiping. He said: 'The Messenger of Allah used to tell us that the resident could wipe for one day and one night, and the traveler could do so for three days.'

It was narrated that Khuzaimah bin Thabit said: The Messenger of Allah set a time limit for the traveler of three days, and if the questioner had persisted in asking, he would have made it five (days).

It was narrated from Khuzaimah bin Thabit that: The Prophet said: Three days. I think he said, And three nights during which the traveler may wipe over his leather socks.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: They said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What about the purification of the leather socks?' He said: 'For the traveler it is three days and nights, and for the resident it is one day and one night.'
