It was narrated that Jabir said: On the Day of Khaibar, the Messenger of Allah forbade the flesh of donkeys but he permitted the flesh of horses.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرٍو وَهُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَذِنَ فِي الْخَيْلِ .

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جنگ خیبر کے دن گدھوں کا گوشت کھانے سے منع فرمایا اور گھوڑوں کے گوشت کھانے کی اجازت دی ۱؎۔
