It was narrated that Hamzah bin 'Amr Al-Aslami said: O Messenger of Allah, I feel able to fast while traveling. He said: If you wish then fast and if you wish then do not fast.

أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاللَّيْثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَ آخَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ! إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً عَلَى الصِّيَامِ فِي السَّفَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَفْطِرْ .

حمزہ بن عمرو اسلمی رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میں سفر میں اپنے اندر روزہ رکھنے کی طاقت پاتا ہوں ( تو کیا میں روزہ رکھوں؟ ) آپ نے فرمایا: ”اگر چاہو تو رکھو، اور چاہو تو نہ رکھو“۔
