Hamzah bin 'Amr narrated that he asked the Messenger of Allah, and he wsa a man who used to fast while traveling. He said: If you wish then fast, and if you wish then fast, and if you wish then do not fast.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ حَدَّثَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَبَا مُرَاوِحٍ حَدَّثَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَهُ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ رَجُلًا يَصُومُ فِي السَّفَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَفْطِرْ .

حمزہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہ کا بیان ہے کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا وہ ایک ایسے آدمی تھے جو سفر میں روزہ رکھتے تھے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اگر چاہو تو رکھو، اور اگر چاہو تو نہ رکھو“۔
