Translation

It was narrated from Hamzah bin 'Amr that: he asked the Messenger of Allah about fasting while traveling. He said: If you wish to fast then fast, and if you wish not to fast then do not fast.

أَخْبَرَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الصَّوْمِ فِي السَّفَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تَصُومَ فَصُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تُفْطِرَ فَأَفْطِرْ .

حمزہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سفر میں روزہ رکھنے کے بارے میں پوچھا: تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”اگر رکھنا چاہو تو رکھو، اور اگر نہ رکھنا چاہو تو نہ رکھو“۔
