It was narrated that 'Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah came to me and there was a Jewish woman with me who was saying: 'You will be tested in your graves.' The Messenger of Allah got upset and said: 'Rather the Jews will be tested. ' 'Aishah said: A few nights later, the Messenger of Allah said: 'It has been revealed to me that you will be tested in your graves. ' 'Aishah said; Afterward I heard the Messenger of Allah seeking refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave.

أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي عُرْوَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدِي امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ،‏‏‏‏ وَهِيَ تَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّكُمْ تُفْتَنُونَ فِي الْقُبُورِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَارْتَاعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا تُفْتَنُ يَهُودُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ:‏‏‏‏ فَلَبِثْنَا لَيَالِيَ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّكُمْ تُفْتَنُونَ فِي الْقُبُورِ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ:‏‏‏‏ فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدُ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میرے پاس تشریف لائے، میرے پاس ایک یہودی عورت تھی، وہ کہہ رہی تھی کہ تم لوگ قبروں میں آزمائے جاؤ گے، ( یہ سن کر ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھبرا گئے، اور فرمایا: ”صرف یہودیوں ہی کی آزمائش ہو گی“۔ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں: پھر ہم کئی رات ٹھہرے رہے پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”مجھ پر وحی آئی ہے کہ تمہیں ( بھی ) قبروں میں آزمایا جائے گا“، اس کے بعد سے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو عذاب قبر سے پناہ مانگتے سنتی رہی۔

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: Two of the old Jewish women of Al-Madinah came to me and said: 'The people of the graves are tormented in their graves.' He said: 'They spoke the truth. They are tormented in a manner that all the animals can hear.' And I never saw him offer any Salah but he sought refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave.

It was narrated that: The Messenger of Allah passed by one of the gardens of Makkah or Al-Madinah and heard the sound of two men being tormented in their graves. The Messenger of Allah said: They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid. Then he said: Indeed, one of them used not to take care to avoid getting urine on his body or clothes, and the other used to walk around spreading gossip. They he called for a palm stalk which he broke in two and placed a piece of it on each grave. It was said to him: O Messenger of Allah, why did you do that? He said: May it be reduced for them so long as this does not dry out or: until this dries out.

It was narrated that Ibn ' Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah passed by two graves and said: They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid. Then he took a fresh palm stalk and broke it in half, and planted one half on each grave. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, why did not do that?' It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet said: When one of you dies he is shown his place morning and evening. If he is one of the people of paradise them he is one of the people of Paradise, and if he is one of the people of Hell, then he is one of the people of Hell, until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, raises him up on the Day of Resurrection.
