It was narrated that 'Aishah said: Two of the old Jewish women of Al-Madinah came to me and said: 'The people of the graves are tormented in their graves.' But I did not believe them, and I did not believe them, and I did not want to believe them. They left and the Messenger of Allah entered upon me, and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, two of the old Jewish women of Al-Madinah said that the people of the graves are tormented in their graves.' He said: 'They spoke the truth. They are tormented in a manner that all the animals can hear.' And I never saw him offer any Salah but he sought refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلَتْ عَلَيَّ عَجُوزَتَانِ مِنْ عُجُزِ يَهُودِ الْمَدِينَةِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَتَا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُبُورِ يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ فَكَذَّبْتُهُمَا وَلَمْ أَنْعَمْ أَنْ أُصَدِّقَهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَتَا وَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ عَجُوزَتَيْنِ مِنْ عُجُزِ يَهُودِ الْمَدِينَةِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَتَا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُبُورِ يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَدَقَتَا إِنَّهُمْ يُعَذَّبُونَ عَذَابًا تَسْمَعُهُ الْبَهَائِمُ كُلُّهَا ،‏‏‏‏ فَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّى صَلَاةً إِلَّا تَعَوَّذَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں یہود مدینہ کی بوڑھی عورتوں میں سے دو عورتیں میرے پاس آئیں، ( اور ) کہنے لگیں کہ قبر والوں کو ان کی قبروں میں عذاب دیا جاتا ہے، تو میں نے ان کو جھٹلا دیا اور مجھے یہ بات اچھی نہیں لگی کہ میں ان کی تصدیق کروں، وہ دونوں نکل گئیں ( تبھی ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میرے پاس آئے تو میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! یہود مدینہ کی بوڑھیوں میں سے دو بوڑھیاں کہہ رہی تھیں کہ مردوں کو ان کی قبروں میں عذاب دیا جاتا ہے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ان دونوں نے سچ کہا، انہیں عذاب دیا جاتا ہے جسے سارے چوپائے سنتے ہیں“، ( پھر ) میں نے دیکھا آپ ہر صلاۃ کے بعد عذاب قبر سے پناہ مانگتے تھے۔

It was narrated that: The Messenger of Allah passed by one of the gardens of Makkah or Al-Madinah and heard the sound of two men being tormented in their graves. The Messenger of Allah said: They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid. Then he said: Indeed, one of them used not to take care to avoid getting urine on his body or clothes, and the other used to walk around spreading gossip. They he called for a palm stalk which he broke in two and placed a piece of it on each grave. It was said to him: O Messenger of Allah, why did you do that? He said: May it be reduced for them so long as this does not dry out or: until this dries out.

It was narrated that Ibn ' Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah passed by two graves and said: They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid. If he is one of the people of paradise them he is one of the people of Paradise, and if he is one of the people of Hell, then he is one of the people of Hell, until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, raises him up on the Day of Resurrection.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: When one of you dies, he is shown his place morning and evening. If he is one of the people of hell it is said: 'This is your place, until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, raises you up on the Day of Resurrection. '
