It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: A funeral passed by the Prophet and they praised (the deceased). The Prophet said: 'It is granted.' Then another funeral passed by and they criticized (the deceased). The Prophet said: 'It is granted.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you said in both cases, 'It is granted?' The Prophet said: 'The angels are the witnesses of Allah in heaven, and you are the witnesses of Allah on Earth. '
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَدَّهُ أُمَيَّةَ بْنَ خَلَفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عَامِرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَرُّوا بِجَنَازَةٍ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ مَرُّوا بِجَنَازَةٍ أُخْرَى فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَبَتْ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ قَوْلُكَ الْأُولَى وَالْأُخْرَى وَجَبَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ الْمَلَائِكَةُ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَأَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ .
ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   لوگ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس سے ایک جنازہ لے کر گزرے، تو لوگوں نے اس کی تعریف کی تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”: واجب ہو گئی“، پھر لوگ ایک دوسرا جنازہ لے کر گزرے، تو لوگوں نے اس کی مذمت کی تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”واجب ہو گئی“، لوگوں نے پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ کے پہلی بار اور دوسری بار «وجبت» کہنے سے کیا مراد ہے؟ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”فرشتے آسمان پر اللہ کے گواہ ہیں، اور تم زمین پر اللہ کے گواہ ہو“۔

It was narrated that Abu Aswad Ad-Dili said: I came to Al-Madinah and sat with 'Umar bin Al-Khattab. A funeral passed by and the deceased was praised, and 'Umar said: 'It is granted.' Then another passed by and the deceased was praised, and 'Umar Said: 'It is granted.' Then a third passed by, and the deceased was criticized, and 'Umar said: 'It is granted.' I said: What is granted, O commander of the believers?' It was narrated that Al-Bara bin 'Azib said: The Messenger of Allah commanded us to do seven things, and forbade us form seven things. He commanded us to visit the risk, to reply (say: Yarhamuk Allah, may Allah have mercy on you) to one who sneezes, to fulfill our oaths, to support the oppressed, to spread the greeting of Salam, to accept invitation, and to attend funerals. And he forbade us from using gold rings, silver vessels, Mayathir, the Qasiyyah, Al-Istabraq, silk and Ad-Dibaj.
