Abdullah bin Amr said: A man asked the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: When aspect of Islam is best? He replied: that you should provide food and greet both those you know and those you do not know.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ خَيْرٌ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تُطْعِمُ الطَّعَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتَقْرَأُ السَّلَامَ عَلَى مَنْ عَرَفْتَ وَمَنْ لَمْ تَعْرِفْ .

عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ ایک شخص نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا: اسلام کا کون سا طریقہ بہتر ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: کھانا کھلانا اور ہر ایک کو سلام کرنا، تم چاہے اسے پہچانتے ہو یا نہ پہچانتے ہو ۔

Narrated Imran ibn Husayn: A man came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: Peace be upon you! He responded to his salutation. He then sat down. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Ten. Another man came and said: Peace and Allah's mercy be upon you! He responded to his salutation when he sat down. He said: Twenty. Another man came and said: Peace and Allah's mercy and blessings be upon you! He responded to him and said when he sat down: and blessings be upon you! He responded to him and said when he sat down: Thirty.

Narrated Muadh ibn Anas: (This version is same as previous No 5176 from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, adding that): Afterwards another man came and said: Peace and Allah's mercy, blessings and forgiveness be upon you! whereupon he said: Forty. adding: Thus are excellent qualities rewarded.

Narrated Abu Umamah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Those who are nearest to Allah are they who are first to give a salutation.
