Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Muminin: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came to visit her when she was veiled, and said: use one fold and not two. Abu Dawud said: Use one fold and not two means: Do not fold it like the turban of a man. Do not double it up manifolds.
حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ وَهْبٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي أَحْمَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَهِيَ تَخْتَمِرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَيَّةً لَا لَيَّتَيْنِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ مَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ لَيَّةً لَا لَيَّتَيْنِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَعْتَمُّ مِثْلَ الرَّجُلِ لَا تُكَرِّرُهُ طَاقًا أَوْ طَاقَيْنِ.
ام المؤمنین ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان کے پاس تشریف لائے اور وہ اوڑھنی اوڑھے ہوئے تھیں، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: بس ایک ہی پیچ رکھو دو پیچ نہ کرو ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: «لية لا ليتين» کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ مرد کی طرح پگڑی نہ باندھو کہ اس کے ایک یا دو پیچ کو دہرا کرو۔

Narrated Dihyah ibn Khalifah al-Kalbi: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was brought some pieces of fine Egyptian linen and he gave me one and said: Divide it into two; cut one of the pieces into a shirt and give the other to your wife for veil. Safiyyah, daughter of Abu Ubayd, said: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم mentioned lower garment, Umm Salamah, wife of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, asked him: And a woman, Messenger of Allah? He replied: She may hang down a span. Umm Salamah said: Still it (foot) will be uncovered. He said: Then a forearm's length, nor exceeding it.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم gave licence to others of the believers (i. e. the wives of the Prophet) to hang down their lower garment a span. Then they asked him to increase it, and he increased one span for them. They would send (the garment) to us and we would measure it one forearm's length for them.

Ibn Abbas said - (Musaddad and Wahb transmitted from Maimunah) Maimunah said: A sheep was given in alms to a female client of ours, but it died. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم passed it and said: Why did you not tan its skin and get some good out of it ? They replied: Messenger of Allah, it died a natural death. He said: It is only the eating of it that is prohibited.
