The above mentioned tradition has also been transmitted by Umm Atiyyah through a different chain of narrators. This version has: (Wash her) seven times or more if you think fit.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ حَفْصَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ بِنَحْوِ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَزَادَتْ فِيهِ:‏‏‏‏ أَوْ سَبْعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّهُ.

اس سند سے بھی ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مالک کی روایت کے ہم معنی حدیث مروی ہے اور حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی حدیث میں جسے انہوں نے ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت کیا ہے اسی طرح کا اضافہ ہے اور اس میں انہوں نے یہ اضافہ بھی کیا ہے: یا سات بار غسل دینا، یا اس سے زیادہ اگر تم اس کی ضرورت سمجھنا ۔

Narrated Qatadah: Muhammad bin Sirin used to learn how to wash the dead from Umm Atiyyah: he would was with lotus leaves twice and with water and camphor for the third time.

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم made a speech one day and mentioned a man from among his Companions who died and was shrouded in a shroud of bad quality, and was buried at night. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم rebuked that man be buried at night until prayer was offered over him, except that a man was forced to do that. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When one of you shrouds his brother, he should use a shroud of good quality.

Narrated Aishah: That the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was shrouded in a garment of Yemeni stuff, it was then removed from him.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When one of you dies, and he possesses something, he should be shrouded in the garment of the Yemeni stuff.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was shrouded in three garments of white Yemeni stuff, among which was neither a shirt nor a turban.
