Narrated Qatadah: Muhammad bin Sirin used to learn how to wash the dead from Umm Atiyyah: he would was with lotus leaves twice and with water and camphor for the third time.

حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْخُذُ الْغُسْلَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَغْسِلُ بِالسِّدْرِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالثَّالِثَةَ بِالْمَاءِ وَالْكَافُورِ.

قتادہ محمد بن سیرین سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے میت کو غسل دینے کا طریقہ سیکھا تھا، وہ دوبار بیری کے پانی سے غسل دیتے اور تیسری بار کافور ملے ہوئے پانی سے۔

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم made a speech one day and mentioned a man from among his Companions who died and was shrouded in a shroud of bad quality, and was buried at night. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم rebuked that man be buried at night until prayer was offered over him, except that a man was forced to do that. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When one of you shrouds his brother, he should use a shroud of good quality.

Narrated Aishah: That the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was shrouded in a garment of Yemeni stuff, it was then removed from him.
