Narrated Buraydah ibn al-Hasib: While the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was walking a man who had an ass came to him and said: Messenger of Allah, ride; and the man moved to the back of the animal. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: No, you have more right to ride in front on your animal than me unless you grant that right to me. He said: I grant it to you. So he mounted.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي بُرَيْدَةَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَمَعَهُ حِمَارٌ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ارْكَبْ وَتَأَخَّرَ الرَّجُلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا أَنْتَ أَحَقُّ بِصَدْرِ دَابَّتِكَ مِنِّي إِلَّا أَنْ تَجْعَلَهُ لِي ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِنِّي قَدْ جَعَلْتُهُ لَكَ فَرَكِبَ.

بریدہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چل رہے تھے کہ اسی دوران ایک آدمی آیا اور اس کے ساتھ ایک گدھا تھا، اس نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول سوار ہو جائیے اور وہ پیچھے سرک گیا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم اپنی سواری پر آگے بیٹھنے کا مجھ سے زیادہ حقدار ہو، الا یہ کہ تم مجھے اس اگلے حصہ کا حقدار بنا دو ، اس نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میں نے آپ کو اس کا حقدار بنا دیا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس پر سوار ہوئے۔

Narrated Abbad ibn Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr: My foster-father said to me - he was one of Banu Murrah ibn Awf, and he was present in that battle, the battle of Mu'tah: By Allah, as if I am seeing Jafar who jumped from his reddish horse and hamstrung it; he then fought with the people until he was killed. Abu Dawud said: The tradition is not strong.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Wagers are allowed only for racing camels, or horses or shooting arrows.

Abdullah bin Umar said “The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم held race between the horses which had been made lean by training from Al Hafya’. The goal was Thaniyyat Al Wada’ and he held a race between the horses Banu Zuraiq and Abd Allaah was one of the racers.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to make lean by training horses which he employed in the race.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to hold a race between horses and kept the one in the fifth year at a long distance.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: while she was on a journey along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: I had a race with him (the Prophet) and I outstripped him on my feet. When I became fleshy, (again) I had a race with him (the Prophet) and he outstripped me. He said: This is for that outstripping.
