Narrated Qudamah ibn Wabirah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone omits the Friday prayer without excuse, he must give one dirham or half a dirham, or one sa' or half a sa' of wheat, in alms. Abu Dawud said: Saeed bin Bashir reported this tradition in a like manner, except that he narrated one mudd or half mudd (instead of sa'). He narrated it from Samurah. Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad bin Hanbal being asked about the differences over the narration of this Hadith. He said: Hammam has a stronger memory - in my opinion - than Ayyub.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَنْبَارِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَيُّوبَ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قُدَامَةَ بْنِ وَبَرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ فَاتَتْهُ الْجُمُعَةُ مِنْ غَيْرِ عُذْرٍ فَلْيَتَصَدَّقْ بِدِرْهَمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ نِصْفِ دِرْهَمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعِ حِنْطَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ نِصْفِ صَاعٍ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ رَوَاهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ هَكَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مُدًّا أَوْ نِصْفَ مُدٍّ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْت أَحْمَدَ بْنَ حَنْبَلٍ يُسْأَلُ عَنِ اخْتِلَافِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَمَّامٌ عِنْدِي أَحْفَظُ مِنْ أَيُّوبَ يَعْنِي أَبَا الْعَلَاءِ.

قدامہ بن وبرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جس سے بغیر عذر کے جمعہ چھوٹ جائے تو اسے چاہیئے کہ وہ ایک درہم یا نصف درہم یا ایک صاع گیہوں یا نصف صاع گیہوں صدقہ دے ۱؎ ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے سعید بن بشیر نے قتادہ سے اسی طرح روایت کیا ہے مگر انہوں نے اپنی روایت میں مد یا نصف مد کہا ہے نیز «عن سمرة» کہا ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: میں نے احمد بن حنبل سے سنا ان سے اس حدیث کے اختلاف کے متعلق پوچھا جا رہا تھا تو انہوں نے کہا: میرے نزدیک ہمام ایوب ابو العلاء سے زیادہ حفظ میں قوی ہیں۔

Aishah, the wife of Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, said: The people used to attend the Friday prayer from their houses and from the suburbs of Madina.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The Friday prayer is obligatory on him who hears the call. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by a group of narrators from Sufyan. They did not narrate it as a statement of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; only Qabisah has transmitted it as saying of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.

Narrated Usamah ibn Umayr al-Huzali: The rain was falling on the day when the Battle of Hunayn took place. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, therefore, commanded that the people should offer their prayer in their camps.

Narrated Usamah ibn Umayr al-Huzali: Usamah attended the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم on the occasion of the treaty of al-Hudaybiyyah on Friday. The rain fell as little as the soles of the shoes of the people were not set. He (the Prophet) commanded them to offer Friday prayer in their dwellings.

Nafi said: Ibn Umar stayed at Dajnan (a place between Makkah and Madina) on a cold night. He commanded an announcer (to announce). He announced that the people should offer prayer in their dwellings. Ayyub said: Nafi narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar that whenever there was a cold or a rainy day night, the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم commanded the announcer (to announce). He announced to offer prayer in the dwellings.
