Translation

Abdullah reported: I visited Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as he was running a high temperature. I touched his body with my hand and said to him: Allah's Messenger, you are running a high temperature, whereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Yes, it is so. I comparatively have a more severe fever than any one of you. I said: Is it because there is a double reward in store for you? Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Yes, it is so. And Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) again said: When a Muslim falls ill, his compensation is that his minor sins are obliterated just as leaves fall (in autumn). In the hadith transmitted on the authority of Zubair there is (no mention of these words): I touched his body with my hands.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، - قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا - جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ، فَمَسِسْتُهُ بِيَدِي، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ لَتُوعَكُ وَعْكًا شَدِيدًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَجَلْ إِنِّي أُوعَكُ كَمَا يُوعَكُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْكُمْ» قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: ذَلِكَ أَنَّ لَكَ أَجْرَيْنِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَجَلْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًى مِنْ مَرَضٍ، فَمَا سِوَاهُ إِلَّا حَطَّ اللهُ بِهِ سَيِّئَاتِهِ، كَمَا تَحُطُّ الشَّجَرَةُ وَرَقَهَا» وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ زُهَيْرٍ: فَمَسِسْتُهُ بِيَدِي.

عثمان بن ابی شیبہ ، زہیر بن حرب اور اسحٰق بن ابراہیم نے کہا؛ ہمیں جریر نے اعمش سے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے ابراہیم تیمی سے ، انہوں نے حارث بن سوید سے ، انہوں نے حضرت عبداللہ ( بن مسعود ) رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ، کہا : میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا ، اس وقت آپ کو بخار چڑھ رہا تھا ، میں نے آپ کو ہاتھ سے چھوا اور عرض کی : اللہ کے رسول! آپ کو تو بہت سخت بخار چڑھا ہوا ہے ، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : "" ہاں ، مجھے اتنا بخار چڑھتا ہے جتنا تم میں سے دو آدمیوں کو بخار چڑھتا ہے ۔ "" میں نے عرض کی : یہ اس لیے کہ آپ کے لیے دہرا اجر ہے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : "" ہاں ، ( یہی بات ہے ۔ ) "" پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : "" کوئی مسلمان نہیں جسے کوئی تکلیف پہنچے ، مرض ہو یا اس کے علاوہ کوئی اور تکلیف مگر اللہ اس کے سبب سے اس کی برائیاں ( گناہ ) جھاڑ دیتا ہے جس طرح درخت اپنے پتے جھاڑتا ہے ۔ "" زہیر کی حدیث میں یہ الفاظ نہیں : "" تو میں نے آپ کو ہاتھ سے چھوا ۔ ""

This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of jarir and the hadith transmitted on the authority of Abu Mu'awiya there is an addition of these words: He said: Yes, by Him in Whose Hand is my life, there is no Muslim upon the earth. The rest of the hadith is the same.

Aswad reported that some young men from the Quraish visited 'A'isha as she was in Mina and they were laughing. She said: What makes you laugh? They said: Such and such person stumbled against the rope of the tent and he was about to break his neck or lose his eyes. She said: Don't laugh for I heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: If a Muslim runs a thorn or (gets into trouble) severe than this, there is assured for him (a higher) rank and his sins are obliterated.

A'isha reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: A believer does not receive (the trouble) of running a thorn or more than that but Allah elevates him in rank or effaces his sins because of that.

A'isha reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: A believer does not undergo (the trouble) of running a thorn or more than that when Allah effaces his sins.
