A'mash reported this with the same chain of transmitters and he made no mention of the fact that he cut one of his veins.
و حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ح و حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرَا فَقَطَعَ مِنْهُ عِرْقًا
  جریر اور سفیان دونوں نے اعمش سے اسی سند کے ساتھ بیان کیا اور " تو ان کی رگ کاٹی " کے الفاظ بیان نہیں کیے ۔

Jabir b. 'Abdillah reported that on the day of Ahzab Ubayy received the wound of an arrow in his medial arm vein. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) cauterised it.
