Safiyya daughter of Huyyay (the wife of Allah's Apostle) reported that while Allah's Messenger (may peace be. upon him) had been observing I'tikaf, I came to visit him one night and talked with him for some time. Then I stood up to go back and he (Allah's Apostle) also stood up with me in order to bid me good-bye. She was at that time residing in the house of Usama b. Zaid. The two persons from the Ansar happened to pass by him. When they saw Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ). they began to walk swiftly, thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said to them: Walk calmy, she is Safiyya daughter of Huyyay... Both of them said: Messenger, hallowed be Allah, (we cannot conceive of ab., ug doubtful even in the remotest corners of our minds), whereupon he said: Satan circulates in the body of man like the circulation of blood and I was afraid lest it should instill any evil in your heart or anything.

و حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُعْتَكِفًا فَأَتَيْتُهُ أَزُورُهُ لَيْلًا فَحَدَّثْتُهُ ثُمَّ قُمْتُ لِأَنْقَلِبَ فَقَامَ مَعِيَ لِيَقْلِبَنِي وَكَانَ مَسْكَنُهَا فِي دَارِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَمَرَّ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَلَمَّا رَأَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْرَعَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا إِنَّهَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ فَقَالَا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنْ الْإِنْسَانِ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَرًّا أَوْ قَالَ شَيْئًا

معمر نے زہری سے ، انھوں نے علی بن حسین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ، انھوں نے حضرت صفیہ بنت حی ( ام الومنین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا ) سے روایت کی ، کہا : ام المؤمنین صفیہ بنت حیی رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اعتکاف میں تھے ، میں رات کو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زیارت کو آئی ۔ میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے باتیں کیں ، پھر میں لوٹ جانے کو کھڑی ہوئی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بھی مجھے پہنچا دینے کو میرے ساتھ کھڑے ہوئے اور میرا گھر اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ عنہ کی مکان میں تھا ۔ راہ میں انصار کے دو آدمی ملے جب انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا تو وہ جلدی جلدی چلنے لگے ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ٹھہرو ، یہ صفیہ بنت حیی ہے ۔ وہ دونوں بولے کہ سبحان اللہ یا رسول اللہ! ( یعنی ہم بھلا آپ پر کوئی بدگمانی کر سکتے ہیں؟ ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ شیطان انسان کے بدن میں خون کی طرح پھرتا ہے اور میں ڈرا کہ کہیں تمہارے دل میں برا خیال نہ ڈالے ( اور اس کی وجہ سے تم تباہ ہو ) ۔

This hadith has been reported on the authority of Safiyya, the wife of Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), through another chain of transmitters (and the words) are: She went to Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) to visit him as he was observing I'tikaf in the mosque during Ramadan. She talked with him for some time and then stood up to go back and Allikh's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) stood up in order to bid her good-bye. The rest of the hadith is the same except with the variation of the words that Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Satan penetrates in man like the penetration of blood (in every part of body).

Abu Waqid al-Laith reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) was sitting in the mosque along wish tome people when there came to him three persons; two of them stepped forward to the direction of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), and one of them went away. The two stood by the side of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), and one of them found a space in his circle and he sat in that; and the other one sat behind him and the third one went away. When Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had finished his work, he said. Should I not inform you about these three persons? One of them sought refuge with Allah and Allah gave him refuge and the second one felt shy and Allah showed kindness to has shyness (and so he was accommodated in that meeting), and the last one reverted and Allah turned away His attention from him.

Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) having said: None of you should make another one stand in the meeting and then occupy his place.

Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: No person should ask another person to stand at his place and then he should himself sit there, but he should simply say: Make room and accommodate.
