A'isha reported that Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) forbade (the preparation) of Nabidh in gourd and varnished jar.

و حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْأَشْعَثِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْثَرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ

اعمش نے ابراہیم سے انھوں نے اسود سے ، انھوں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کدو کے بنے ہوئے اورروغن زفت ملے ہوئے برتنوں سے منع فرمایا ۔

Thumama b. Hazn Al-Qushairi reported: I met 'A'isha and asked her (about the utensils in which) Nabidh (may be prepared). She narrated to me that a group of 'Abd al-Qais came to Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and asked: Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) about Nabidh. He (the Holy Prophet) forbade them to prepare Nabidh in varnished jar, hollow stumps and gourd and green pitcher.

Ishaq b. Suwaid reported through the same chain of transmitters but for the difference that he substituted the word gourd for waterskin (meant for preserving wine).

Ibn 'Abbas reported that there came to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) a group of people from the tribe of 'Abd al-Qais. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said to them: I forbid you to prepare Nabidh in gourd, in pitcher besmeared with pitch, in hollow stump and in waterskin (meant for preserving wine). In the hadith transmitted on the authority of Hammad the word. gourd has been used in place of waterskin .
