Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: He who finds one rak'ah at dawn before the rising of the sun, he in fact finds the dawn prayer. and he who finds one rak'ah of the afternoon prayer before sunset, he in fact finds the afternoon prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، وَعَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، حَدَّثُوهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الصُّبْحِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الصُّبْحَ، وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الْعَصْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ، فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الْعَصْرَ»
  ) امام مالک نےزید بن اسلم سے روایت کی ، انھیں عطاء بن یسار ، بسربن سعید اور اعرج نے حدیث بیان کی ، ان سب نےحضرت ابو ہریرہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا : ’’ جس نے سورج نکلنے سے پہلے صبح کی ایک رکعت پالی تو یقینا اس نے صبح ( کی نماز ) پالی اورجس نے سورج کے غروب ہونے پہلے عصر کی ایک رکعت پالی تو یقینا اس نے عصر ( کی نماز ) پالی ۔ ‘ ‘

A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: He who finds a prostration before sunset or at dawn (prayer) before the rising (of the sun) he in fact finds that (prayer), and prostration implies a rak'ah.

Ibn Shibab reported: 'Umar b. 'Abd al-'Aziz deferred the afternoon prayer somewhat and 'Urwa said to him: Gabriel came down and he led the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) in prayer. 'Umar said to him: O 'Urwa, are you aware of what you are saying? Upon this he ('Urwa) said: I heard Bashir b. Abu Mas'ud say that he heard Abu Mas'ud say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) say: Gabriel came down and acted as my Imam, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him. then I prayed with him. then I prayed with him. reckoning with his fingers five times of prayer.

Ibn Shihab reported: Umar b. 'Abd al-'Aziz one day deferred the prayer. 'Urwa b. Zubair came to him and informed him that one day as Mughira b. Shu'ba was in Kufa (as its governor), he deferred the prayer, Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari came to him and said: What is this, O Mughira? Did you know that it was Gabriel who came and said prayer and (then) the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said the prayer (along with him), then (Gabriel) prayed and the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) also prayed, then (Gabriel) prayed and the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) also prayed, then (Gabriel) prayed and the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) prayed (along with him). then Gabriel prayed and the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) also prayed (along with him) and then said: This is how I have been ordered to do. 'Umar (b. 'Abd al-'Aziz) said. O 'Urwa be mindful of what you are saying that Gabriel (peace be upon him) taught the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) the times of prayer.
