Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: The Prophet said, Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، وَالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، وَفِطْرٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ الْأَعْمَشُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَرَفَعَهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَفِطْرٌ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ ، وَلَكِنِ الْوَاصِلُ الَّذِي إِذَا قُطِعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا .

ہم سے محمد بن کثیر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو سفیان ثوری نے خبر دی، انہیں اعمش اور حسن بن عمرو اور فطر بن خلیفہ نے، ان سے مجاہد بن جبیر نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما نے سفیان سے، کہا کہ اعمش نے یہ حدیث نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تک مرفوع نہیں بیان کی لیکن حسن اور فطر نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرفوعاً بیان کیا، فرمایا کہ کسی کام کا بدلہ دینا صلہ رحمی نہیں ہے بلکہ صلہ رحمی کرنے والا وہ ہے کہ جب اس کے ساتھ صلہ رحمی کا معاملہ نہ کیا جا رہا ہو تب بھی وہ صلہ رحمی کرے۔

Narrated Hakim bin Hizam: That he said, O Allah's Apostle! What do you think about my good deeds which I used to do during the period of ignorance (before embracing Islam) like keeping good relations with my Kith and kin, manumitting of slaves and giving alms etc; Shall I receive the reward for that? Allah's Apostle said, You have embraced Islam with all those good deeds which you did.

Narrated Sa`id: Um Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa`id said, I came to Allah's Apostle along with my father and I was wearing a yellow shirt. Allah's Apostle said, Sanah Sanah! (`Abdullah, the sub-narrator said, It means, 'Nice, nice!' in the Ethiopian language. ) Um Khalid added, Then I started playing with the seal of Prophethood. My father admonished me. But Allah's Apostle said (to my father), Leave her, Allah's Apostle (then addressing me) said, May you live so long that your dress gets worn out, and you will mend it many times, and then wear another till it gets worn out (i.e. May Allah prolong your life). (The sub-narrator, `Abdullah aid, That garment (which she was wearing remained usable for a long period. ).

Narrated Ibn Abi Na'm: I was present when a man asked Ibn `Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn `Umar said, From where are you? The man replied. From Iraq. Ibn `Umar said, Look at that! he is asking me about the blood of Mosquitoes while they (the Iraqis ) have killed the (grand) son of the Prophet. I have heard the Prophet saying, They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world.

Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking me (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet came in and I informed him about this story. He said, Whoever is in charge of (put to test by) these daughters and treats them generously, then they will act as a shield for him from the (Hell) Fire.

Narrated Abu Qatada: The Prophet came out towards us, while carrying Umamah, the daughter of Abi Al-As (his granddaughter) over his shoulder. He prayed, and when he wanted to bow, he put her down, and when he stood up, he lifted her up.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle kissed Al-Hasan bin `Ali while Al-Aqra' bin H`Abis at-Tamim was sitting beside him. Al-Aqra said, I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them, Allah's Apostle cast a look at him and said, Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully.
