Narrated Hakim bin Hizam: That he said, O Allah's Apostle! What do you think about my good deeds which I used to do during the period of ignorance (before embracing Islam) like keeping good relations with my Kith and kin, manumitting of slaves and giving alms etc; Shall I receive the reward for that? Allah's Apostle said, You have embraced Islam with all those good deeds which you did.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ حَكِيمَ بْنَ حِزَامٍ ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ أُمُورًا كُنْتُ أَتَحَنَّثُ بِهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْ صِلَةٍ وَعَتَاقَةٍ وَصَدَقَةٍ هَلْ لِي فِيهَا مِنْ أَجْرٍ ؟ قَالَ حَكِيمٌ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَى مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَيُقَالُ أَيْضًا : عَنْ أَبِي الْيَمَانِ ، أَتَحَنَّثُ وَقَالَ مَعْمَرٌ ، وَصَالِحٌ ، وَابْنُ الْمُسَافِرِ ، أَتَحَنَّثُ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ : التَّحَنُّثُ : التَّبَرُّرُ ، وَتَابَعَهُمْ هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ .
ہم سے ابوالیمان نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو شعیب نے خبر دی، انہیں زہری نے کہا کہ مجھے عروہ بن زبیر نے خبر دی اور انہیں حکیم بن حزام نے خبر دی، انہوں نے عرض کیا کہ   یا رسول اللہ! آپ کا ان کاموں کے بارے میں کیا خیال ہے جنہیں میں عبادت سمجھ کر زمانہ جاہلیت میں کرتا تھا مثلاً صلہ رحمی، غلام کی آزادی، صدقہ، کیا مجھے ان پر ثواب ملے گا؟ حکیم رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے تم ان تمام اعمال خیر کے ساتھ اسلام لائے ہو جو پہلے کر چکے ہو۔ اور بعضوں نے ابوالیمان سے بجائے «اتحنث» کے «اتحت» ( تاء کے ساتھ ) روایت کیا ہے اور معمر اور صالح اور ابن مسافر نے بھی «اتحت» روایت کیا ہے۔ ابن اسحاق نے کہا «اتحنث»،‏‏‏‏ «تحت» سے نکلا ہے اس کے معنی مثل اور عبادت کرنا۔ ہشام نے بھی اپنے والد عروہ سے ان لوگوں کی متابعت کی ہے۔

Narrated Sa`id: Um Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa`id said, I came to Allah's Apostle along with my father and I was wearing a yellow shirt. Allah's Apostle said, Sanah Sanah! (`Abdullah, the sub-narrator said, It means, 'Nice, nice!' in the Ethiopian language. ) Um Khalid added, Then I started playing with the seal of Prophethood. My father admonished me. But Allah's Apostle said (to my father), Leave her, Allah's Apostle (then addressing me) said, May you live so long that your dress gets worn out, and you will mend it many times, and then wear another till it gets worn out (i.e. May Allah prolong your life). (The sub-narrator, `Abdullah aid, That garment (which she was wearing remained usable for a long period. ).

Narrated Ibn Abi Na'm: I was present when a man asked Ibn `Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn `Umar said, From where are you? The man replied. From Iraq. Ibn `Umar said, Look at that! he is asking me about the blood of Mosquitoes while they (the Iraqis ) have killed the (grand) son of the Prophet. I have heard the Prophet saying, They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world.

Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking me (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet came in and I informed him about this story. He said, Whoever is in charge of (put to test by) these daughters and treats them generously, then they will act as a shield for him from the (Hell) Fire.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle kissed Al-Hasan bin `Ali while Al-Aqra' bin H`Abis at-Tamim was sitting beside him. Al-Aqra said, I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them, Allah's Apostle cast a look at him and said, Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully.
