Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: The Jews came to Allah's Apostle and told him that a man and a woman from amongst them had committed illegal sexual intercourse. Allah's Apostle said to them, What do you find in the Torah (old Testament) about the legal punishment of Ar-Rajm (stoning)? They replied, (But) we announce their crime and lash them. `Abdullah bin Salam said, You are telling a lie; Torah contains the order of Rajm. They brought and opened the Torah and one of them solaced his hand on the Verse of Rajm and read the verses preceding and following it. `Abdullah bin Salam said to him, Lift your hand. When he lifted his hand, the Verse of Rajm was written there. They said, Muhammad has told the truth; the Torah has the Verse of Rajm. The Prophet then gave the order that both of them should be stoned to death. (`Abdullah bin `Umar said, I saw the man leaning over the woman to shelter her from the stones.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ الْيَهُودَ جَاءُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرُوا لَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ وَامْرَأَةً زَنَيَا ، فَقَالَ : لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا تَجِدُونَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ فِي شَأْنِ الرَّجْمِ ، فَقَالُوا : نَفْضَحُهُمْ وَيُجْلَدُونَ ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ : كَذَبْتُمْ إِنَّ فِيهَا الرَّجْمَ فَأَتَوْا بِالتَّوْرَاةِ فَنَشَرُوهَا فَوَضَعَ أَحَدُهُمْ يَدَهُ عَلَى آيَةِ الرَّجْمِ فَقَرَأَ مَا قَبْلَهَا وَمَا بَعْدَهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ ارْفَعْ يَدَكَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا فِيهَا آيَةُ الرَّجْمِ ، فَقَالُوا : صَدَقَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فِيهَا آيَةُ الرَّجْمِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرُجِمَا ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : فَرَأَيْتُ الرَّجُلَ يَجْنَأُ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ يَقِيهَا الْحِجَارَةَ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو امام مالک بن انس نے خبر دی، انہیں نافع نے اور انہیں عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ یہود، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور آپ کو بتایا کہ ان کے یہاں ایک مرد اور ایک عورت نے زنا کیا ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا کہ رجم کے بارے میں تورات میں کیا حکم ہے؟ وہ بولے یہ کہ ہم انہیں رسوا کریں اور انہیں کوڑے لگائے جائیں۔ اس پر عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ تم لوگ جھوٹے ہو۔ تورات میں رجم کا حکم موجود ہے۔ تورات لاؤ۔ پھر یہودی تورات لائے اور اسے کھولا۔ لیکن رجم سے متعلق جو آیت تھی اسے ایک یہودی نے اپنے ہاتھ سے چھپا لیا اور اس سے پہلے اور اس کے بعد کی عبارت پڑھنے لگا۔ عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ ذرا اپنا ہاتھ تو اٹھاؤ جب اس نے ہاتھ اٹھایا تو وہاں آیت رجم موجود تھی۔ اب وہ سب کہنے لگے کہ اے محمد! عبداللہ بن سلام نے سچ کہا۔ بیشک تورات میں رجم کی آیت موجود ہے۔ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حکم سے ان دونوں کو رجم کیا گیا۔ عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے رجم کے وقت دیکھا۔ یہودی مرد اس عورت پر جھکا پڑتا تھا۔ اس کو پتھروں کی مار سے بچاتا تھا۔

Narrated `Abdullah bin Masud: During the lifetime of the Prophet the moon was split into two parts and on that the Prophet said, Bear witness (to thus).

Narrated Anas: Once two men from the companions of Allah's Apostle went out of the house of the Prophet on a very dark night. They were accompanied by two things that resembled two lamps lighting the way in front of them, and when they parted, each of them was accompanied by one of those two things (lamps) till they reached their homes.

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu`ba: The Prophet said, Some of my followers will remain victorious (and on the right path) till the Last Day comes, and they will still be victorious.

Narrated Muawiya: I heard the Prophet saying, A group of people amongst my followers will remain obedient to Allah's orders and they will not be harmed by anyone who will not help them or who will oppose them, till Allah's Order (the Last Day) comes upon them while they are still on the right path.
